With love, gratitude, and cherished memories, we celebrate the life and legacy of Robert E. Watkins, a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, veteran, and friend. Robert lived a life marked by service, family, laughter, and an unmistakable ability to bring people together.

Robert answered the call to serve his country in 1970 when he joined the United States Marine Corps. He served on active duty during the Vietnam War, beginning what would become a long and honorable tenure of military service. His commitment to his country continued through service in the United States Army Reserve and the Air National Guard. Throughout the years, Robert carried with him the discipline, strength, loyalty, and pride of a man who understood the meaning of service and sacrifice. His dedication to our nation will forever remain an important part of his legacy.

While Robert served his country with honor, his greatest joy could always be found among the people he loved.

Robert was truly the life of the party. His presence could fill a room, and when Robert was around, there was sure to be good food, good conversation, plenty of laughter, and memories in the making. He loved cooking and especially enjoyed hosting family and friends. For Robert, preparing a meal was about much more than food—it was an expression of love and an opportunity to gather the people who mattered most around him.

Whether he was cooking, entertaining, sharing stories, laughing with loved ones, or simply enjoying time surrounded by family and friends, Robert knew how to make ordinary moments feel special. His joyful spirit and larger-than-life personality made him someone people were naturally drawn to.

Robert leaves to cherish his memory his beloved sister, Lorna Watkins; his two children, Jocelyn Watkins and Robert E. Watkins II; five grandchildren Robert E Watkins III, Elijah Watkins, Malik Yates, Nathaniel Yates, and Taylor Watkins; and two great-grandchildren Denym Carter and Reign Wakins. He also leaves behind extended family members, friends, fellow veterans, and many others whose lives were touched by his friendship, generosity, humor, and unforgettable spirit.

Robert was preceded in glory by his loving parents, William and Mattie Watkins, and his brothers, Virgil Watkins and John Watkins. We take comfort in imagining a beautiful reunion with those who went before him.

Robert E. Watkins leaves a legacy of service, strength, family, fellowship, laughter, and love. His devotion to his country was matched by his devotion to the family and friends he treasured.

Though his seat at the table may now be empty, the love, laughter, and memories he created will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
