Rodney Brown

Rodney Allen Brown Jr., known affectionately as "Fat Baby" or "PHAT" to his loved ones, was born on April 27, 1995, in Columbus, Ohio, to Iesha Johnson and Rodney Brown. Growing up in Columbus, he was a vibrant spirit who left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He attended several schools, including Fair Avenue Alternative, Mifflin Alternative Middle School, and Groveport Madison, where he proudly graduated from Groveport Madison High School.

Rodney was a man of many passions. He was athletic and loved to play sports, showcasing his skills in track and field at Barnett Recreation Center and playing for the East Haven Bulldogs and Mayberry Mustangs Little League football teams, as well as Groveport Madison basketball and football. He attended Gethsemane United Methodist Church and was once a proud member of Steppin' Into Faith, finding joy in movement and community.

Rodney had a big heart and cherished family gatherings, with a special love for his mother and his children. He was a kind soul who truly cared for those around him. He left this world too soon, departing on July 24, 2025, at the young age of 30. He is preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Joe Ann Mitchell, his brother, Raylan Brown, and his father, Rodney Brown Sr.

Left to cherish his memory is his mother Iesha (John) Johnson; son, Rodney Allen Brown III and his mother Jazmine; daughter, Raniya Alani Brown and her mother Jariah; grandfather, Jay Mitchell Jr.; grandmother, Aslean Brown; siblings, Zaire, Zylion, Zamauri, Cheron, Justice, and Jonna; aunts, Stephanie Cochran, Raquel (Rayshawn) Mitchell, Ruby, Netta, Charlotte, Angie, and Debbie; uncle's, Frankie and Barkley; god mom, Danielle Perkins; god sisters, Shakiyla, Shareeka, Donteja, Destinae, Emonie, Takoya, Tyyonica; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.

He will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the joy he brought to those around him. Rest in peace, Rodney Allen Brown Jr.
