Rosalind "Lynda" Days Jordan, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and proud veteran, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2026, in Gahanna, Ohio. She was 77 years old.
Born on June 19, 1948, in Columbus, Ohio, Rosalind was the daughter of Lillie H. Roy and Henderson Days. She grew up in Columbus and graduated from Linden McKinley High School. A lifelong learner with an insatiable thirst for knowledge, Rosalind pursued higher education with determination and excellence. She earned her associate degree from Columbus Technical College (now Columbus State College) before continuing her studies receiving her bachelor's at Southern Baptist College. She completed her master's degree at Dallas Baptist University.
Rosalind dedicated 28 years of her life to serving her country in the United States Army. Rising to the rank of Master Sergeant before retiring in 2002, she was a trailblazer and a leader among leaders. In 1996, she made history as the only female in her class at The United States Army Sergeants Major Academy. Known for her wit, wisdom, and nurturing spirit, Rosalind left an indelible mark on those who served alongside her. Even after retiring from active duty, she continued to support soldiers through her work with AW2 (Army Wounded Warrior Project Program), providing care and guidance to wounded warriors until her second retirement in 2019.
Faith played a central role in Rosalind's life. A lifelong member of Trinity Baptist Church in Columbus, she remained steadfast in her beliefs no matter where life took her. While stationed across the globe during her military service, Rosalind ensured she attended Baptist services wherever possible. Her faith was not only evident in her words but also through the way she lived encouraging others to trust that all things work together for God's good.
Rosalind cherished her family above all else. She is survived by her Son: Andrew S. Jordan Jr. (Shellyn Alsup); and Daughter: Stephanie Jordan-Smith (Granyl Smith Sr.). Her legacy continues through her beloved Grandchildren: Kylie Jordan, Kendra Jordan, Granyl Chandler Smith Jr., Kimberly Jordan, Andrea Alsup, Heaven Smith, and Adrian Alsup; as well as ten adored Great-Grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life. Rosalind also leaves behind her Brother: Kevan Days (Betty Days); Sister-in-Law: Judie Days and former husband: Andrew S. Jordan Sr. Rosalind also leaves behind her Best-Friend of nearly 60 years: Patti Martin and Daughter-in-Love: Lorraine Canady along with many Cousins, Nieces, Nephews and countless friends whose lives were enriched by knowing her.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Lillie H. Roy and Henderson Days; sister: Latrisha Sparks; brother: Henderson Otis "Chuckie" Days; and other loved ones who undoubtedly welcomed Lynda into Heaven's gates.
Beyond her professional accomplishments and devotion to family and faith, Rosalind found joy in simple pleasures like traveling the world, reading voraciously on a wide range of subjects, and walking for exercise-a passion she encouraged others to embrace as they aged. Known for being the smartest person in any room she entered, Lynda inspired those around her with both intellect and grace.
Rosalind's unwavering faith in God guided every aspect of her life. She instilled this same faith in her children and grandchildren while encouraging them to always keep their trust in God's plan.
Rosalind "Lynda" Days Jordan will be remembered as a woman of strength, wisdom, faithfulness, and love-a true matriarch whose legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched. May those who knew and loved Rosalind find comfort in their memories of this extraordinary woman who lived a life full of purpose and grace.
