Ruby Stein Robinson

Ruby Stein Robinson entered her heavenly home on July 4, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family and sustained by her unwavering faith in Christ. She was born on February 26, 1942, in Plain Dealing, Louisiana, to the union of John Percy, Sr., and Katie Mae Stephens.

As a young child in 1950, her family relocated from Louisiana to Pontiac, Michigan, where she attended Bagley Elementary School, and she later received her diploma from Pontiac Central High School in 1960. After graduating from high school several years later in 1968, Ruby moved to Columbus, Ohio.

Ruby, affectionately known as “Auntie Stein and Ms. Ruby” by her family and friends, was known for her infectious smile, thoughtfulness, and passion for encouraging others. With that warm smile, she charmed a young gentleman named Samuel Robinson from Columbus, Ohio, who would occasionally visit his family in Pontiac, Michigan. A covenant of partnership began that lasted 58 beautiful years of them navigating life’s challenges as a team as they raised their wonderful children, Yolanda, Lisa and Stevie. This union, built on love, commitment, and mutual trust, provided a shared purpose, a strong foundation for both of them to thrive together.

Her children rise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: ‘Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.’ Charm is deceitful, and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.” Proverbs 31:28-30

Ruby dedicated over 35 years of service, enjoying a successful career of working with people with BDD at Ohio Rehabilitation Services Commission, where she served with integrity and diligence, leaving an enduring impact on the countless lives she touched and inspired. In her spare time, Ruby was an avid reader, providing counseling and giving care to people by feeding the homeless and serving those impacted by cancer through the Columbus Cancer Ray Group.

As a faithful servant of the Lord, Ruby was a former member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Triedstone Missionary Baptist Church, and World Harvest Church, where she used her spiritual gifts to serve others in ministry by sending prayers, scriptures, and positive and encouraging words of affirmation.

She was preceded in death by her siblings: Florida Mae (Henry) Brown, Willi Gray (Elmer) Thompson, John Percy Stephens, Jr., Herman (Marie) Stephens, Susie Stephens, Alton Stephens, Edward (Dannie) Stephens, Jerry Stephens, Jewel (Bertha) Stephens, and brother-in-laws; Wilbur Finley and Benjamin Mobley, and sister-friend Gloria Beasley.

Ruby was a priceless gift. Her life reflected quiet strength, steadfast faith, and a love that enriched the lives of those around her. She was rare, cherished, and impossible to replace. Though her presence is no longer with us, the beauty of her spirit continues to shine in the hearts of all who know and love her. Like a ruby, her legacy is enduring, precious and forever treasured by her beloved husband Samuel Robinson; children: Yolanda, Lisa and Stevie Robinson; grandchildren: Joshua Robinson, Camile Robinson, Michael Higgs, Jr., Stephenie Robinson, and Bethany Robinson; great grandchildren: Makayla Robinson-Walker, Faith Robinson, Joshua Robinson, Jr., Mariah Higgs, Malachi Robinson, Elijah Robinson, Kamdynn Green, Abraham Robinson, Zara Higgs, Sia Higgs, and Olive Robinson; siblings: Arthur (Velma) Stephens, Sr., and Della Finley; sister-in-laws: Alberta Stephens, Velma Stephens, Helena Mobley, JoAnn Gleaves, and Mable Robinson; brother-in-laws: John Robinson and James Gleaves; godchild: Rebecca Smith; sister-friends: Sherry Fairrow, Sarah Gilbert and Beverly Hagler; bonus daughters, Kimberly (Steve) Cort, Michelle Muncy; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends.
