Samuel Grayson, a man whose heart was as big as his smile, came into this world on September 4, 1938, in Demopolis, Alabama. He peacefully transitioned on November 18, 2025, in Columbus, Ohio, at the golden age of 87, leaving behind a whole lot of love, laughter, and memories that'll stick with us forever. Samuel's journey from Alabama to Columbus back in his teenage years was the start of something special, where he built his life and put in work at the auto plating shop as a Car Restoration Specialist.
But Samuel was more than just a hard worker; he was a man who knew how to enjoy the simple things. He loved watching cartoons, and you could always catch him humming a tune, making his own kind of music. Fixing up some lemonade and snacking on butter cookies were his go-to treats, and he loved nothing more than chilling on the porch, soaking up the sun, and watching the world go by. He loved his music, especially Sam Cooke's classics like "Chain Gang," "A Change Gone Come," "Bring it on Home," and "Cupid," which always got him moving with his signature "Walk the Dog" dance. Samuel was always up for an adventure, traveling to over 20 states, plus Canada and Mexico, bringing back stories and experiences that made him who he was.
Samuel's spirit lives on through his beloved wife, Veronica Grayson, with whom he shared 55 years of marriage, his four kids: Latoya Grayson, Mia Grayson, Rashad Grayson, and Isaac (Jasmine) Grayson, and his bonus kid, Myeisha Grayson. He was a proud granddad to six grandkids: Olajuwon Grayson, Mykilah (James) White, Little Veronica Grayson, Daesha Grayson, Orisha Grayson, and Mikahi Grayson, and a great-granddad to six great-grandkids, each one a blessing and a part of his legacy. He's also remembered with love by his many nieces and nephews. Samuel is preceded in death by his parents, Sarah and James Grayson, and his sister, Elizabeth Hairston. His memory will forever be a treasure to all who knew and loved him.
