In Loving Memory of Sharon Yvonne Smiley

Sharon Yvonne Smiley, better known as Shaye, a beloved mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother, sister, cousin, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2026, at the age of 69.

Shaye was a woman whose life was defined by the love she gave to the people around her. She was a mother who loved her children, a grandmother who cherished her grandchildren, and a great-grandmother whose family was a source of tremendous joy and pride.

Sharon leaves behind two loving children Shonda Byron and John Wooden Jr, 5 grandchildren Markell Wooden, Imani Byron, Jaleel Byron, Brianna Byron and Marlin Byron Il, and 4 great-grandchildren Javiyah Byron, Kailah Hughlett, Nerina Wooden, Italia

Wooden, along with her sisters Lynette Perkins, Vivian Wooden, Adrienne Gresson, Joan Gresson, brothers Derek Bynes and Johnny Gresson, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends who were blessed to know and love her.

To her family, Shaye was more than just a mom, grandmother or great-grandmother. She was a part of the foundation of their family - a person whose presence, love, memories, and lessons will continue to live on through the generations she helped shape.

Although our hearts are heavy with the pain of losing her, we are grateful for the years, memories, laughter, love, and moments we were blessed to share with her. Her life touched many people, and the love she gave will continue to live on in each person who carries a piece of her in their heart.

Shaye will be deeply missed, but she will never be forgotten. Her memory will live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Shaye is preceded in death by those she loved dearly, including her parents Marie Gresson and Lenton Bynes, her grandparents Frank and Gracie Lee Smith, her husbands John Wooden Sr. and Benjamin Smiley, her siblings Marquita Gresson, Darryl Gresson, her nieces La Quita Bynes, Amber Gresson, and David Hodges. She now joins them in eternal rest.

Rest peacefully, Shaye. You are loved, you are missed, you will never be forgotten, and will remain in our hearts forever!
