Tony L. Shaw Sr.

Tony L. Shaw passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at the age of 60 years old from a sudden battle of lung cancer at The James Cancer Hospital in Columbus, OH.

Tony was born on December 3rd, 1965, to Hurdine Rogers and Marie Palmer-Shaw in Burlington, North Carolina. He and his family migrated to Columbus, Ohio, where he was raised with his 8 siblings and attended Central High School. He later moved to Lansing, Michigan, where he had an active hand in raising 5 children. He moved from Lansing, Michigan, to Mansfield, Ohio, in 1997, where he increased his tribe to 6 children. He lived there until 2016, when he returned to Columbus, Ohio. Columbus remained his home until his passing, where he was known as an avid Ohio State University fan.

Tony kept his finger on the pulse of his community. His neighbors and friends enjoyed his candor. In his later years, he stepped into the role of Grandad with excitement and loved opportunities to spend time with his family.

He is survived by his Aunts, Dorothy Graves and Mary Alice Ruffin, siblings, Timothy Shaw Sr., and Carol Shaw-Dabo. And his children: Tony Shaw Jr., Tyrell Shaw, Tiaunna Shaw, Jawaun Irving, Lonnie Irving, and Tamara Irving. He is the grandparent of numerous grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: Joseph Shaw, William "Brother" Shaw, Trina Shaw, Deborah Shaw, and Annie Shaw.
