It is with deep respect and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Traci Lynn Washington, aged 65 of Columbus, OH who departed this life on 10/21/2025
Born on 08/28/1960 in Columbus, OH, predeceased by her mother Connie Constance Jenkins, Traci proudly served in the Army for 15 years, achieving the rank of Sergeant First Class, Chaplain Assistant. During her service, she achieved an Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Meritorious Service Medal. Throughout her tour, she’s also had the pleasure of traveling the world with her family from Hawaii to Japan.
After completing her military service, Traci continued to embody the values of honor, courage, and commitment in civilian life by devoting her time to the Department of Veteran Affairs. She dedicated her time and career as The Chief of Voluntary Services. She was known for her infectious laugh, beautiful smile, bubbly personality, her family, amazing philanthropy, passion for the care and well-being of Veterans and desire to make change in her community.
Traci cherished her colleagues and friends at the Columbus VA, whose care, laughter, and friendship meant so much to her and continue to mean so much to us.
Her favorite hobbies included anything with family & friends, celebrating the holidays and watching Turner Classic movies/shows.
Traci is survived by two sons; Joseph Washington married to Dashua S. Williams-Washington and Devin Washington married to Ashley S. Washington. Two Grandchildren; Trinity Aniyah Williams and Mila Rose Washington,. Three Siblings; Mr. Lewis Dodley Jr., Mrs. Imani (Kim) Olear, Mr. Mark Dodley and Father; Dr. Lewis Dodley Sr.
A funeral service with full military honors will be held on at The National Veterans Memorial and Museum:
Friday November 7, 2025 with viewing beginning at 2:00 PM and Celebration of Life at 3:00 PM, with interment to follow at Greenlawn Cemetery Saturday November 8, 2025 at 10:00 AM. Friends and family are invited to gather and share memories of a life well-lived and a service well-given.
**In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Volunteer Services at the Columbus VA in Traci’s memory.
