Deacon Walter Gray Jr., 73, formerly of Columbus, went to be with the Lord at Kindred Hospital in Dayton, Ohio on Thursday August 14, 2008. Deacon at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church and formerly employed at Buckeye Steel. Winner of many swimming and bowling events with the Ohio Wheel Chair Special Olympics. Preceded in death by his wife Lerdell Gray; son Calvin F. Gray and granddaughter Cassaundra R. Gray. Deacon Gray is survived by his daughter Carolyn (Richard) Shubert; grandchildren Catrina Rawls Gray (Walter) Bell, Dante Wallace and Alex Shubert; sisters Inez Colbert; Eva Sally (Charles) Hall, Ester Lee (Henry) Travis, Martha (Harold) Wilson and Ernestine Russell all of Illinois; daughter in law Janice Gray; God granddaughter Donee Mohammed; best friend and co-worker Deacon Mildred Medely; special friend Laura Williams and a host of other relatives and friends. Deacon Gray will lie in state 12:00 noon
