Willie Arthur Simms

Willie Arthur Simms was born on September 3, 1943, in Newnan, Georgia, to the late Robert and Corine Simms. On July 20, 2026, the Lord gently called him home to eternal rest.

In 1944, Willie moved with his family to Columbus, Ohio, where he was raised and later graduated from Central High School. Following graduation, he began a dedicated career at Westinghouse, where he worked faithfully for many years.

Willie was known for his kind heart, quiet strength, and patient spirit. A gifted handyman, he enjoyed working with his hands and could often be found tinkering with projects or repairing anything that needed fixing. He was an avid reader who also found joy in bowling with family, completing puzzles, and collecting eagle statues and artwork, which symbolized the strength and resilience he admired.

In his later years, Willie's greatest happiness came from spending time with his great-grandchildren, creating cherished memories that will be treasured for generations. His gentle spirit, unwavering love, and quiet presence will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Willie was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Corine Simms; and his brothers, Robert L. Simms and Bobby Simms.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories his daughter, Tina Turnbo (Paul); his son, Curtis Simms; his former wife, Lillie Martin; his brother, Madison Sims; three sisters, Betty Williams (Roosevelt), Evalena Helms, and Carolyn Hill; five grandchildren, Devon Davis, Destiny Simms, Deangelo Simms, Souyen Ross, and Da'Nesha Warren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends who will miss him dearly.
