Xandra Yvette Wade Wilson

July 13, 1965 — October 10, 2025

Columbus

Xandra Yvette (Wade) Wilson, age 60, born July 13, 1965, in Columbus, OH, entered eternal rest on Friday, October 10, 2025, peacefully at her home surrounded by family, after a courageous battle with cancer. She fought until the end with grace and faith.

Xandra accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized by Pastor S.R. Doughty, Sr. at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church. She loved attending church, even as a child and throughout her adulthood, which nurtured her strong and unwavering faith and love for God. She was a longtime member of Jordan Bible Church (now Antioch Jordan) and faithfully served the ministry in many capacities, including the Music Ministry and as Administrative Assistant to her late uncle, Pastor Wayne T. Lee, Jr. She was passionate about singing and music, especially cherishing moments singing with her family and hitting that low tone.

Xandra was a proud 1983 graduate of Mifflin High School and was a member of the renowned Mifflin Experience Ensemble. She enjoyed attending reunions and was well known and highly regarded. She served in the Air National Guard and later earned college credits from Ohio State University and Park University.

In April 2008, Xandra married her best friend, Raymond, and they shared 17 ½ years together filled with love and harmony. With Ray’s support, she responded to one of her callings by opening her home and serving as a foster parent for 10 years, positively impacting many young lives with her love, patience, and wisdom.

Xandra recently retired after 36 years as a Financial Specialist at Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS). She enjoyed training employees and was often asked to teach essential classes on short notice because of her expertise.

She was a vibrant person who could light up any room. Her personality guided her, opening many doors, and helping her through life with a solid spiritual foundation. She was disciplined in pursuing her goals and had a unique energy, wisdom, straightforward advice, charisma, style, and fashion. She was friendly and approachable, loved good food—cooking everything but not baking—and enjoyed adventures, including exploring trails and riding her Can-Am Spyder across the country with her riding buddies, including conquering the challenging Tennessee Tail of the Dragon, known for its 318 curves in just 11 miles, with her friends Pastor Eric and Regina Browder—"The 3 Wheel Warriors for Christ." She adored the arts, Broadway theater, and traveling. Earlier this year, she celebrated her 60th birthday with a fabulous Alaskan cruise.

Xandra was talented and creative, with hobbies including face painting and balloon artistry as Xanny The Clown, knitting handmade scarves as Knits by Xan, sewing, skincare, watching TV shows, providing janitorial services, and shopping. You could always find a box with a smile on her porch.

She lived life to the fullest and leaves behind a legacy of love, joy, knowledge, and happiness. Her impact on many lives was profound, and she will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her father, Rev. John D. Moore, Sr.; brother, John David “JD” Moore, Jr.; grandparents, Johnson and Alberta Wade; her mother-in-law, Hattie Mae Wilson; her father-in-law, Joe Louis Wilson; aunts, Janet Hall and Jewell Shelborne; uncles, Johnny Wade and Pastor Wayne T. Lee, Jr.; cousins, Brandi Holly and Obany Wade, along with many other loved ones.

Left to celebrate her life are her husband, Raymond Wilson; her mother, Francine Moore; sister, Shronne Moore Williams; nephews Anthony Williams, Jr. and John David Moore III; nieces Bailey Williams and Payton Moore; great-nephew Anthony “AJ” Williams; brother-in-law, Joel (Marcia) Wilson, Sr.; uncle, Calvin (Patty) Wade; aunts, Wanetta Lee, Debra (Bishop Stanley V.)
