Yvonne Wiggins lived 84 marvelous years. Her parents, Walter and Daisy Smith created a beautiful, loving family of 11 children.
(Ruth Willis, Dora (Al) Pimento, James Smith, William (Bonnie) Smith, David Carl Smith, Alfred Smith, George Smith, Sandra
Pannell, survived by Harold Smith and Joan Smith). They moved from Atlanta, GA to Columbus, OH in 1943. Yvonne attended.
Eastmoor High School. She was a member of East Mount Olivet Baptist Church, Christ Memorial Baptist Church, and Friendship
Baptist Church. She married her husband and the love of her life, Fletcher E Wiggins. They went on to have two daughters’, Yolanda.
Simmons and Yvette Lewis (husband Terrell Lewis) who gave them 6 Grandchildren, Antoinette (husband Eric Patrick),
Mikaelyn, Candess, Madison, Terrell, and Michael; and 5 Great-granddaughters, Elayna, Elyse, Isabella, Valaya, and Varonica.
Yvonne was a showstopper who could light up a room with her fashion-forward ensembles, big personality, dramatic antics,
signature sayings’ “You got that right kid”, impromptu dances, unique nicknames, and whatever original song that was on her
heart. She would sing and make sure you could never forget it. It will never feel the same without her arguing with us over card
games or watching her stand up with her arms open wide singing “Here she is, Miss America!” Those are the things we are going to
truly miss the most. She was full of unconditional love for anyone she met and will always be remembered. Yvonne was adamant to
protect and live out the legacy her parents instilled in her and her siblings to always make sure everyone had someone to welcome
them in like family.
For the past 3 years, Yvonne was a walking testimony of the Lord’s faithfulness and healing. Countless physicians had the
privilege to witness that God was in control of her life, not their diagnosis, on numerous occasions. She would celebrate in song
and dance every time she came home from the hospital. One of her most memorable songs during this battle will always be …
“They did not get me!”
Her family is joyously celebrating that Yvonne has gone to her eternal home to sing and dance with Jesus, Fletcher, and Yolanda!
