Pastor Calvin C. Allen, Sr. departed this life on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at Continuing Healthcare of Gahanna. He was the Founder of the Saint Thomas Baptist Church where he Pastored for 57 years. He is preceded in death by parents, Dallas Rance, Allen and Daisy Right (Petty) Allen, First Lady Marcella M. Allen, wife of 58 years, Son Rev. Calvin C. Allen Jr., brothers: Marshall, Dallas, Lee Roy and Joseph Allen, sisters: Mildred Mapp, and Ruby Williams.

Pastor Allen received his secondary education in Columbus, Ohio. He attended South High School and went to pursue his religious education by graduating from Simmons Bible College in Louisville, Kentucky. He received a Bachelor of Theology and a Master of Divinity Degree from the Lutheran Theological Seminary Capital University. He received his Old Testament Studies education from the Pontifical College Josephinium, a Roman Catholic Seminary. He completed Clinical Pastorial Education at the Southwest Mental Health Center. He served as Chaplain at T.I.C.O., the Ohio Youth Commission and studied counseling at the Columbus State Hospital, now known as Twin Valley Behavioral Healthcare Hospital.

He was a past employee of The Pennsylvania Railroad and The City of Columbus. His sudden Homegoing leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters, Evangelist Rhoda Elaine and Jill Renee Allen. Six grandchildren, Katrina Richardson, David Allen, Amber Allen-Daniels, Isiah Allen, Neil Elliott Dana, and wonderful great grand and great-great grandchildren. Brother Pastor Carl W. Allen, Sr. Sisters: Ola Mae Bibb, Daisy Wilson, Grace McBroom, Deborah Western, and Barbara J. Valentine. Brother in law Guy Arnold Jr. Sister in laws: Estella Bass, and Janet Shannon. Private Visitation 10:00 AM and Private Funeral Service 11:00 AM Monday, December 7, 2020 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE NORTH 2500 Cleveland Ave. Mask and Social Distancing are required. Interment at Glen Rest.

What a wonderful Time in my life when I attended St.Thomas Baptist church under Pastor Allen..He baptized me while pregnant with my now 15 year old twins assisted by deacon Vince Williams .My memories of the love of Pastor Allen and Sister Allen and their ministry will be forever with me. He was definitely a fisher of men❤
