NesbittMichael

A Godly life that was precious to us climaxed on April 27, 2020 when Michael was summons from this life to life eternal.

Michael was born in Columbus Ohio on December 26, 1956 to Minnie Ann Nesbitt Morgan and Michael Junious Clanton. Michael was a proud graduate of Eastmoor Senior High School where his dedication and love of sports allowed him to play varsity Basketball and run track and field. His interests also include a love of the Arts/ drawing and writing, his poems and poetry were matchless masterpieces.

As the eldest brother of the family Michael was looked up to and admired, he cherished his role and was a living example of kindness for his loved ones who respected him and valued his wise counsel even at a young age, his voice was always the voice of reason for his family.

His love for people was a gift from God and he was blessed to share his gifts where he was previously employed at the Faith Mission Mens Shelter in Columbus Ohio, during his time there he was able to minister and share the good news of Jesus Christ.

Michael confessed Jesus Christ as his personal savior at a tender age and was baptized at the Prince of Peace Church of God in Christ by Superintendent Richard L. Hairston. He grew up in the church and was committed to his faith, his spiritual foundation was nurtured by his loving Grandmother, Mother Gracie Lee Nesbitt whom he cherished. His family would jokingly say she took him to church three times a week and twice on Sunday.

He accepted his call to ministry at a very early age, his lifelong desire was for his family and those he loved to be saved and know the love of God through Christ Jesus as he did. Michael shared the good news everywhere he went and was a founding member of the Temple of Faith under the pastorate of Bishop Roger James Hairston Sr. He helped to organize the church and was ordained to pastorate by Bishop Roger J. Hairston Sr. He served faithfully as their first Assistant Pastor until he was called to Pastor the Calhoun Memorial Temple Fire Baptized Inc, where he was installed by Bishop Emily Mader on September 9th, 2009. Elder Nesbitt was a faithful committed Pastor to his church and the broader community, he often spent his time helping to meet the needs of others who were often drawn to his ministry.

He met and married his beloved wife of 25 years Elder Regina Nettles-Nesbitt she shared his love for ministry, assisting him to the end in his ministry assignment as Pastor of Calhoun Memorial Temple Fire Baptized Inc.

Precious memories will be forever cherished by his loving and devoted wife Elder Regina Nettles-Nesbitt, his six children whom he adored, sons Michael ( Schalen) Nesbitt II, Anthony ( Alicia) Nesbitt, Malcolm Nesbitt, Cornelius ( Jacqueline) Nettles, daughters Tequioa Nesbitt and Kenya Nettles, grandchildren Mikayla Nesbitt, Amir Nesbitt, Sylvio Nesbitt, Adonis Nesbitt, Decari Nesbitt, Neahmya Rahmaan, Samya Brady, Great grandchildren Alana Marshal, siblings brothers Benjamin ( Lachandra) L. To the bereaved family of our dearly beloved co-labor in God’s vineyard, Pastor Michael R. Nesbitt Sr.
Blessed is the man who obtain the favor of the LORD
Hebrews 4:14-16 Seeing then that we have a great high priest that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God; let us hold fast our profession.
15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
BE STEADFAST AND UNMOVEABLE GOD SEES YOUR NEEDS!!!

To: kim, Tammy, Benny, devoted wife Regina and Mike’s children; We share a close knit bond that we built making many visits to the home of Mama Grace and Minnie Ann. In fact, it was a celebration in itself when the “Detroit” family connected with the “Columbus” family. Everyone knew it was going to be plenty of fun, food, family, festivities and fellowship. Those were truly “our” good ole days and we cherish and share the memories among us. A true and dedicated man of God has gone on to Glory and he will be missed! Rest in Peace, Michael. The Detroit Family

We are so saddened to hear about the passing of our friend, brother and pastor Michael Nesbitt.

My wife and I we’re married in 2010 just after her father passed away in Virginia and then we moved to Ohio to stay with her mom for a little while but that ended up not working out so…

My wife and I was homeless on the streets of Columbus, Ohio and the transmission was messed up in our van it wouldn’t go out of second gear, (it blew up on the way from Virginia as we were going through West Virginia), It was like 5 foot of snow on the ground, we were driving everywhere we could during the day to stay warm looking for work and trying to no be harassed and we were sleeping in the homeless shelter at night but we were separated. My wife was living across the street in the women’s side and I was on the men’s side and we were losing our faith losing our hope and one day we just opened up the phone book and I flipped to the church’s page and I ran my finger down the first page I opened and the first number that stuck out to us was Calhoun Memorial Temple and we called it and about the third ring this strong, comforting, most amazing loving voice said “hello?”and I was so overwhelmed with joy and it just was like immediately I felt no fear, it was like a sigh of relief came over me immediately and so I proceeded to explain to him our plight and he said that he was getting ready to leave the church but he will stay if we can make it so we can talk. So immediately I grabbed the phone book and we took off and we got there as fast as we could (and we still got that same phone book to this day) and we sat down and we spoke and he showed us the most… (I’m trying to say all of this but it is so hard right now but I’m going to try) he showed us the most greatest love that I have ever felt from anyone that’s about the best way that I could describe it.

So we started going on a regular basis Wednesday nights Bible study and Sunday church services and just about any other time in between we would meet up and hang out and my wife and I went to CiCi’s Pizza with Michael and Regina one time and that was the most funniest moment ever, the most amazing time that I ever had with anybody. We end up taking home the pizza the store was going to throw away and brought them back to the homeless shelter and people was happy. I love making people happy

My wife and I was very stressed being on the street and was losing how and it was pulling us apart but they showed so much love for us, they tutored us, they mentored, us and they did not allow us to give up on each other. We became members of the church but my daughter back in Virginia ended up in foster care so my wife and I had to try to find a way to get back to Virginia, we made it to Virginia but we never made it back to Ohio to see our family again, but we have always tried to keep in touch.

After we moved and unsuccessfully got custody of my daughter (she went back to get mother) we found ourselves bouncing around in Virginia trying to find permanent residence.

So one beautiful Sunday morning we were hungry and we had just a little bit of money on our food stamps like $3 or something and just before we decided we were going to stop at the grocery store to maybe get some tomatoes and bread I told God that I was tired of feeling like a failure and I asked him to please help me and my family, well I got a bit distracted with my dad and I accidentally went past the grocery store (now by this time about 3 years had passed since we left Ohio) With that being said my wife brought it to my attention that I went past the store and so I drove up a bit further and we turn around in this parking lot of this church but we didn’t realize it was a church we thought it was just a used car lot with a lot of pretty cars and trucks or something (which we found out later on it actually used to be an old car dealership) so I look at the front door and I see above it it said “Providence Place” so I parked and I told my wife that I was going to go inside and find out and so I went inside and sure enough it was a church just like I suspected so I went outside and I grabbed my oldest son and brought him inside and my wife his brother in behind me, (they are only a year or five days apart) so we went inside and that’s where we have been members of Providence Transformation Church international on 400 Oakley avenue, Lynchburg Virginia ever since.

The reason for that story it’s because…

One of my biggest wishes and goals was to try to have enough money one day to be able to pay for the Nesbitt family to come to our church and Pastor it for one Sunday and get our pastor to meet my family but I have yet to been able to do so but I still hope that I can at least get our sister Regina Nesbitt to come and bless our church with her presence.

I really don’t know exactly where I’m going with all of this because I’m so upset right now so overwhelmed and sad but I love you all I am so grateful for you all being there for me and my wife and if there’s anything that we can do for you you have our number please don’t hesitate. We love you, God bless you all, Brooke, Jay And The Children
