Patricia M. Winfield

PatriciaWinfield

Patricia Marlene Winfield was born in Columbus Ohio to Ann & Philip Pete on June 21st, 1953. She was the youngest of 3 children, older brother Willard, and sister Elaine.  In her childhood Patricia grew up in a loving home, she was a Daddy’s Girl through and through and wanted to be everywhere with “My Peter” as she affectionately called him. Patricia attended Linmoore Middle School and graduated from Linden-McKinley High School in June of 1971, where she was a Cheerleader, and member of the Senior Choir.

Patricia was a member of Second Baptist Church, where she met the love of her life Oliver (Tony) Winfield in the Youth Sunday School Class. Patricia was a faithful member of the Concord Choir of Second Baptist, of which Tony joined to be closer to “Patty” (a name reserved for a select few). Patricia had a fervent love of Singing and Praising the Lord which was the beginning of her lifelong Ministry.

On July 20th, 1974, Patricia and Tony were married at Second Baptist Church. On April 24th, 1975, they welcomed their first child Pheana Jenee (PJ) into the world, who was the first of 4 children, Hope November 2nd, 1978 (deceased), Daniel Anthony October 23rd, 1981, and Jamarr Massey (adopted June 1999). Patricia had a great love for children and over the years did home care for numerous young working mothers. In 1997 Patricia and Oliver began foster care opening their home to teenage boys for the next 9 years.

In 1980 Patricia and Tony along with lifelong best friends James & Judy Qualls formed the Gospel Quartet know as “Wings of Praise” to spread the message of Christ wherever God sent them. For the next 25 years they ministered his word in all the neighboring states bordering Ohio and beyond Including Israel in 1988, and Nigeria in 1991. The standing joke amongst the quartet was that “We were three preachers (James, Judy & Tony) who traveled with one singer (Patricia)” but in 2008 Patricia acknowledged her call to the ministry.

In 1996 Patricia and Oliver and Children became members of Gospel Lighthouse Church. Where she continued her ministry of song and preaching God’s word. She worked very closely with the prayer ministry of Gospel Lighthouse, and along with her Husband taught the New Members Orientation class.

  9. Patricia Fenner

I am truly sadden to hear of Pat’s passing. After I left Ohio Pat & I didn’t keep in touch as often as we should have. But, I always remembered the good times we had together at Second Baptist Church growing up, singing in the Concord Choir and roller skating most weeks. Pat, Ricca and I were like the “Three Musketeers” where you saw one you saw the other. We all have our memories. Please know I mourn with you.

Jehovah God knows you are sad and just like a flower collects water after a storm He collects your tears. He will carry you through your storm and help heal your heart. He will help you endure. Whatever comes our way we are never alone. Isaiah 41:10
    My prayers are with you.
    Patricia (Pat Napper) Fenner

  10. Sylvia (Davidson) Wilson

My condolences to the entire family of Pat. I remember her and Tony as teenagers and being in awe of their love for each other. Pat helped me and other young teens form the Youth Choir at Second Baptist in 1970 and she was a wonderful director! Her voice in the Concord Choir was unmatched. Heaven has gained an angel!

  11. Tony and Elaine, I just want you to know how very sad I am at this time. Pat was the most beautiful soul. She was one of my Dad’s song birds in the Concord Choir. Most of all she was a beautiful person, watching the Love between her and Tony gave all of the youth under you two a chance to see how a loving Christian relationship can work. Love to the entire family, from my family to yours ❤️
