Paul Howard Newspaper photo

Paul Thomas Howard, 72 sunrise December 16, 1949, in Lima, Ohio to the late Fred and Roberta Howard. Sunset November 15, 2022. Paul was preceded in death by both parents and two sisters Ladonna Bell and Jean Howard.

Paul leaves to cherish his wife Laticia Howard of Columbus Ohio, 10 children: Candice (Lester), Tonia, Leia, Kathryn (Kay-Kay), Monti, Coty, Paul Aaron, all of Columbus, Ohio; Mark (Samantha) of North Port, Florida, Robin (Maurice) of Powder Springs, Georgia, Shawn (Philip) of Saraland, Alabama and 24 grandchildren; Brothers Steven Howard of Columbus Ohio, William Howard (Helena) of Aurora, Colorado, Greg (the sauce man) of Lima Ohio; Sister Valerie Howard of Columbus, Ohio. Paul also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Paul was a 1968 graduate of Lima Senior High where he was instrumental in leading his team to the State Basketball Championship. To this day Paul is in the record books of Lima Senior High were his record stood for years. Paul continued his academic and athletic career as he went on to attend college in Colorado.

He loved sports and could be caught yelling at a TV on any given Friday, Saturday, or Sunday! Paul loved to dress and could break down a hat like no other, if there was an occasion, you know Paul was coming suited and booted. Paul was a great person, a kind and gentle soul, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He loved his family and friends with his whole heart.

In 2014 Paul retired to a senior community where he was nominated to be Activity Coordinator. He enjoyed planning events and volunteering his time to help his neighbors. Not only did Paul’s neighbors love the events he planned, but they also loved him. Paul was a man of God first. He was a jack of all trades around the house and enjoyed tinkering with knick-knacks. He was a master painter and probably painted a room, hung a picture, or did something around the house for half of you here (raise your hand). He also enjoyed fishing, loved jazz music, was a wordsmith and was “smart as a whip” as momma would say. After suffering a stroke in 2018 that left Paul unable to walk or talk, he spent the last 4 years of his life in a nursing facility. Throughout, Paul exhibited dignity, resilience, and grace with a smile on his face until his passing. As Paul took his last breath, he was surrounded by those he loved. After a relentless fight he is now at peace with the Lord.
