Pearl Carmon

CarmonPearl

Pearl Solomon Carmon was born January 17, 1927 to the parents of Dietrius and Nancy Dixon Solomon.

Pearl lived a long adventurous life. She loved to travel by car, train or motorcycle. She saw a lot of the country on her Indian Motorcycle, she loved her bike. She enjoyed riding as the passenger on the back of her husband’s Harley and Honda. They were members of The Columbus Firebirds and the Columbus Eagles Motorcycle Clubs. When she was young and living in Alabama, she loved riding horses and steers. Her favorite places to travel were to Canada and Rio.

Pearl was a woman of many talents. She was a great cook, and seamstress and would make her own patterns, awesome at upholstery, hair dresser; she did many perms, corn rolls, and French rolls. She could braid your hair so tight your eyes would be slanted for three hours. Pearl won a few jitter bug contests in her young life, and she could always tell a good joke.

Pearl loved her family and friends and was loved by many. She was a free hearted person and handled others with her heart not her head, and she believed that everyone had some good in them. If you were troubled, she would say “give it to God”. She was a member of Higher Ground Church and attended until walking became difficult.

Pearl believed in hard work and was employed at Lutheran Sr. Village for over twenty years and sometimes would work double shifts, weekends, and holidays. Pearl’s doctor forced her to retire after a heart attack at work.

Pearl is preceded in death by her parents, Dietrius and Nancy Solomon; brothers, John, Nelson, Burton, Willie Solomon; sisters, Nancy and Bertha Solomon, and Ruby Lee Mitchell; uncle, BB King; former husband, James Carmon Sr.; sons, Ron Carmon, daughter in law, Sherry Carmon, Lloyd Carmon, daughter in law, Debra Carmon; daughter, Laveda Carmon, son in law, Earl Davis; grandsons, Ronnie Tanner, Karlos Davis, and Kyi Rice; and great nephew, Tony Smith.
