Pearlie Mae Hudgins “Cookie” entered into eternal rest October 4, 2021, at 79. Born October 27, 1941, in West Virginia to Orlando and Earlie Mae Johnson. She graduated from Aracoma High School in Logan, West Virginia.

Pearlie married Robert L. Hudgins and they had five wonderful children, Deborah Ann Knox, Katie Lee Hudgins, Robert Lee Hudgins, Carolyn Lorraine Hudgins, and Kim Melissa Hudgins. Pearlie was blessed with seventeen grandchildren and twenty-eight great-grandchildren, to carry on her legacy of strength and her ability to conquer whatever came her way while keeping her head up. Her legacy is not what she left for you but what she left within you like happy memories.

Pearlie continued raising her five children on her own while working several jobs to provide. While working at Doctor’s North Hospital as a housekeeper where she was a very hard worker and was promoted to laboratory assistant. While working a full-time job she also worked for three other families for over 20 years. She also enjoyed working at the Crew Stadium. Pearlie’s children were her life, and she did all and everything she could to provide so they could live prosperous lives.

Pearlie enjoyed fishing, bird feeding and bird watching, rescuing animals of all kinds an all-around nature lover, and spending time with her grandchildren. She gave and collected for many charities and loved walking for UNICEF.

Pearlie was preceded in death by her parents, Orlando and Earlie Mae Johnson; sister, Bernice Agee; grandchildren, Lamont Hudgins, Christopher Knox, and Rachel Knox; and great-granddaughter, Jayla Knox.

Pearlie is survived by her children, Deborah A. Knox of Detroit, MI, Katie L. Hudgins, Robert Hudgins, Carolyn L. Hudgins, and Kim M. Hudgins of Columbus, Ohio; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation 10:00am and Funeral 11:00am Friday, October 22, 2021 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE NORTH, 2500 Cleveland Ave.

Interment at Eastlawn Cemetery.
