Pearline Parker was born in Limestone County, Alabama, on March 12, 1932, to parents Jerry and Mattie Rice.

Pearline liked to be called “Pearl.” Her parents moved to Chattanooga, TN when she was very young. She graduated from Howard High School and began her Christian walk of life at Union Hill Baptist Church. She later joined Central Bible Baptist Church in Cleveland, OH.

In the early 1950s, Pearl moved to Cleveland, OH, where she held jobs at Hickok Electric and Pioneer Standard. She retired from Gould Inc.

Pearl was a member of Toastmasters and a Union Steward for SEIU Local 47 of Cleveland, Ohio.

Pearl loved going out of her way to help people. She would do whatever was needed to help family and friends.

Pearl loved traveling, walking, exercising, line dancing, and reading with her book club, “The Golden Girls,” for 25 years.

Pearline was preceded in death by her grandparents, Sarah Lowe Conner and Ollie Conner; parents, Jerry and Mattie Rice; brothers, Sylvester Conner and James C. Rice; son, Bobby Lester.

Pearl leaves to cherish her memory, daughters, Denise (Anthony) Gibbons of Columbus, OH,  and Patricia (Spurgeon) Oglesby of Atlanta, GA., daughter-in-law Ora Lester of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Stacy Lester, David Lester, Spurgeon Oglesby, IV, Chandler Oglesby, Doirreon (Jennifer) Greer, and Bobbie (Jakeem) Fells; great-grandchildren, Tregian Greer, Kenton Greer, Amara Greer, Giselle Greer, LeAndre Fells, Zaire Fells, Kyomi Fells; special niece, Bonnie (Charles) Collins, god-daughters, Janice Ledyard, Nicole Ledyard, Channell Spencer; nieces, nephews, cousins; special friends, Herman Jeffries, Cliff Nelson, Doretha (William) Hoey, Constance Starnes; a host of other extended family and friends.

Public viewing will be Saturday, September 17, 2022, from 9:00 AM-11:00 AM, followed by an 11:00 AM funeral service in the Chapel of John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 423-622-9995.

Interment: Forest Hills Cemetery
