Peggy Joanne Bynum Jones was born May 1, 1940 to the late George and Alberta Simon in Columbus, Ohio. She attended the 8th Avenue Elementary school. She attended Indianola Junior High and graduated from North High School Columbus Public School.

After she graduated from high school, she obtained a job at the University Hospital in Columbus as a nurses aide. She excelled in the nursing field and she worked at University Hospital for 20 years. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior under the leadership of Elder Richard Houston Holmes and she attended Mount Zion Church of God in Christ. She served her church in many ways. She was the Sunday School Superintendent. She taught Sunday school and she served on the Hospitality Board. She also sang in the Choir number 1.

Peggy relocated to Cincinnati Ohio in 1983, where she worked at the University of Cincinnati Hospital. She worked there for 20 years and retired as Head of Patient Relations. She was active in the community and was well respected by her peers. She served on many different boards. She was recognized and awarded as a recipient of the Prestigious Black Achievers award in 1999.

In Cincinnati she joined Good News Church of God in Christ in 1983, under the leadership of Elder James H. Quick. She served in many areas, including a Tuesday morning Bible study teacher. Peggy was on the Pastor Anniversary Committee. She worked in the Nurses Guild. She belonged to the Hymnal choir. She was a vacation bible school teacher. She was a Sunday school Superintendent. Peggy taught the Woman’s Sunday school Class and served as a Tuesday morning prayer Intercessor. She was part of the Hospitality Outreach Ministry and the Card Ministry. Peggy boarded the glory train and departed this life on Friday, January 1, 2021 at 5:15pm.

Peggy was preceded in death by her mother, Alberta Golden Brannon; father, George Simon; daughter Alberta Lynn Davis; and brother-in-law, Clinton Butler Senior of Redlands, California.

Peggy leaves to mourn her passing, one sister, Doris Eugenia Butler of Redlands, California; five grandchildren, Tiana Lee, Monique Daniels, Parahdise Daniels, Lashawna Davis, and DeJuan Davis (Angel); nine great grandchildren, Marshawn, Royster, Deontae Furloe, Shaniyah Furlow, Kennedi Stepney, Kendel Stepney, Dashawn Davis, Amar’e Davis, Daymier Davis, D’Marion Davis; loving devoted friend and niece, Tonya Butler; niece, Coretta Stallworth; nephews, James Butler and Clinton Junior (Maria) Butler; loving cousins who were raised as siblings, Evangelist June (Bishop Ed Black), Elder George (Freddie Porter) of Chicago, Illinois, Charles “Pudge” (Denise Porter); and a host of other nieces, nephews and family members.

Visitation 10:00am and Funeral 11:00am Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE NORTH, 2500 Cleveland Ave.
