Phyllis Jean Jeffries was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend who went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 8, 2021, at the age of eighty-three years old.  She was born, July 14, 1937, in East Gulf, West Virginia to the late Lee Walker, Sr. and Elizabeth Francis Marshall.

 

She was also preceded in death by Dewey L. Marshall (Step Father), Mitchell Jeffries (Husband) and Loretta Hillman (Sister).

 

Phyllis attended Central High School and received her best education   from life’s experiences.  As a single mother raising 7 children, she often held 2 jobs to support her family.  She retired from the State of Ohio to become a daycare provider for her grandchildren.

 

She accepted our Lord Jesus Christ as her Saviour early in life.

 

Left to cherish her memory are her 7 loving children, Ronald (Dawn) Jeffries, Rosaline Jeffries, Shirley (Jeffrey) Snead, Yetta Dunning, Malinda Motley, Connetha Jeffries and Jermaine Jeffries; brother, Lee Walker, Jr.; sister Janice Bishop; 15 grandchildren Tequila Jeffries, Tenikqua Jeffries, Andrew Jeffries, Lucinda Jeffries, Christina Jeffries, Taronn Jeffries, Wayne Backner, Jr., Steven “Isaiah” Haygood, Syera Jeffries, Jayquan Jeffries, Kristen Roberts, Jordan Jeffries, Elise Snead, Martina Snead, Saprese Snead; 11 great grandchildren Tamiah Jones, Sherrod Stevenson, Shannen Stevenson, Deamonie Smith, Leana Jeffries, Eli Robinson, Kemonie Jeffries, Kion Roberts, Kilen Roberts, Kartel Castin, Braylon Snead; her loving Aunt Lucille Jones and Uncle Raymond (Diane) Kearns, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, along with a loyal friend Angel Mauga and many others.

 

Phyllis was also lovingly known by family and friends as “Big Mama”, “Philly Phil”, “Mama J”, “Ms. Phyllis” and, of course, “Mommy”!

Private Visitation 1:00 PM and Private Funeral Service 2:00 PM Monday, January 18, 2021 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE EAST, 5456 E. Livingston Ave.
