Portia Aleta Jackson was born on May 4th, 1955 in Welch, WV to the late Arthur Gray Miller and Eddie Hagler Miller. Portia grew up in Bluefield, WV. She graduated from Bluefield High School.

After graduation, she moved to Columbus, OH where she attended CTI (Columbus State College). She worked at Mann Nursing Home and The Ohio State University until she retired. Portia accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She attended Union Tabernacle of God as a faithful member. She was in the choir and usher board. Portia also was a member of the Miller Family Prayer that her mother started for many years.

Portia loved traveling with her husband and family. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved music, cooking and helping with everyone else’s children. In her spare time she liked watching TV, doing word search books and taking care of her dog, Oreo.

Portia was a very loveable, kind and compassionate person. Portia was married to Robert Jackson Jr for 46 years.

She was preceded in death by siblings: Cherryl (Donnie) Crowder, and Brenda Miller.

Portia leaves to cherish in her memory, Husband: Robert Jackson Jr. Daughters: Shanta (Michael) Benitez, Ebony (Ronald) Jacobs, Apriel Jackson, Saphira Jackson, and Tasha Martin. Stepdaughter, Jairus Knight and her precious dog, Oreo. Grandsons, Michael Benitez Jr, Mekhole Benitez, Robert Jacobs, and Ra’Shawn Rogers. Granddaughters, Aleia (Richard) Cobb and Da’Miya Foster.  5 Great Grandchildren who affectionately called her ‘GG: Mykhole Benitez,  My’Leia Cobb, Nariah Benitez, Myla Cobb, and Nalaya Benitez.  Sisters: Deborah (Stan) Griffin, Reneta (Ernest) Jones. Brothers: Cecil (Betty) Miller, Keith (Michelle) Miller. Sisters-in Law, Ann Jackson and Cynthia Jackson. A host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

 

Visitation 10:00am and Funeral 11:00am Monday, May 2, 2022 at Union Tabernacle of God, 1345 Atcheson Street.

    To a mom that was like a mother to me. When I first met mommy Jackson she was already great to me. I remember working a my little job while my Best Friend Paris’a was working at Meijer’s then she came by my apartment and brought me bags of food. Even tho I wasn’t her birth child she treated as one. I will never forget that. Now I know your in a greater place. My birth mother and my earth mother will met and take care of one another. I love all of the family and send my deepest condolences to you all hurting at this time. I will continue to pray for you all durning this time
