I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith; Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day; and not to me only, but unto all of them also that love his appearing.”                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      ~II Timothy 4:7-8

Rita (Reta) Ann Scott was born February 26, 1959, in Columbus, Ohio to Irma Jean and Benjamin Henry Ware. Rita was one of 4 children from her parents’ union. She accepted Christ at the age of 13 and she was truly a woman after God’s own heart. She was a graduate of South High School Class of 1978. Rita met the love of her life Curtis D Scott, and they were married June 24th, 1978. Married for forty-three years. As stated in Proverbs 31, the heart of her husband had complete trust in her and he lacked nothing. She rewarded him with good and not evil all the days of his life.  She was the “apple of his eyes,” and he was the “sunshine of her life.” this union produced three children. Christina, Charles, and Douglas.

First Lady Scott was the wife of Bishop Curtis D. Scott, Pastor of New Life Apostolic Church of Columbus, Ohio where she faithfully served in the ministry with him. For over 30 years. She loved God, His word and all his people. First Lady par excellence, a discerning counselor, an anointed minister, a skillful and knowledgeable Sunday School teacher, a conquering prayer warrior. Her sheer will to live, strength of character and resilience are testament to her unwavering faith and trust in God.   She expressed her thanksgiving and praise for God’s goodness. She calmly navigated the charted course of her roles with grace, poise, wisdom, dignity, and strength.

“Her children rise up to call her blessed,” Proverbs 31:28

Rita was a loving, supportive, tower of quiet strength for her husband, a doting mother for her children She was a woman of noble character who worked tirelessly in support of her family. An excellent cook and homemaker, she created a home of comfort, order, beauty, and elegance.  Rita, she raised her children with love, dignity, respect and continued to lead them to God. She leaves to cherish all the precious moments: her husband, Bishop Curtis Scott; her children Christina, Douglas (Nallely) and her grandchildren Eli and Russell Scott of Columbus: Sibling Steven Ware. A host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and the New Life Apostolic Church Family.

On Monday, September 13, 2021, Rita Scott completed her journey on earth and transitioned from this earthly realm to her heavenly home.

She was preceded to glory by Mother Irma Ware, Father Benjamin Ware Sr, her son Charles, her brother Benjamin Ware Jr, and Mark Ware.

  10. Dr. Robin Holliman-Smith

To Pastor Curtis D. Scott and Family, I realize this is a very emotional and difficult time. First Lady Reta A. Scott was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a dynamic songstress, fun-loving, and vibrant. As loved ones leave their sincere condolences, only God can heal the heart shattering pain. I am reminded of these words “Let Not Your Heart Be Troubled” (John 14:1). Because a troubled heart does not rest, it is in a state of unrest. While we can trust God, we cannot track Him. The scripture says, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord” (Isaiah 55:8). Everyone is given two dates: 1) Birth date, and 2) Expiration date. God has numbered our days in the sense that He is the Giver and the Taker of life ( Job 1:21). King Solomon in all his wisdom and riches, Apostle Paul and his bulldog tenacity, and Samson in all his strength were unable to extend their earthly journeys. First Lady Scott sang this song so beautifully “Brand New Life” recorded by Olivia Branch Walker. The lyrics, “I moved from my old house, I moved from my old friends, I moved from my old way of strife. Thank God I moved out to a brand-new life. He changed my old way with words, He changed my old, leveled mind. He changed my heart and gave me a new start. Thank God I moved out to a brand-new life. Can’t you see I’m a new man, Don’t you know I got a new name, And one day I’ll live in that new land. Because I moved out to a brand-new life. I got a new walk, I got a new talk, I got a new look, I got a new name, I got a new heart, I got a new mind. I got a new home, and a new start is going my way, Yes, it is. Because I moved out to a brand-new life.” We Will Forever Love First Lady Reta Ann Scott – RIP

  27. Kenneth & NaCole Davis

To Bishop Curtis D. Scott and Family, we’ve been part of each others lives for a very long time. I can’t remember a time when Bishop and 1st Lady wasn’t present during a moment of celebration or grief. 1st Lady Scott was my Sunday school teacher, church mom and encourager. Since becoming a man, I discovered that 1st Lady Scott is the epitome of what most men desire in a Godly wife. She modeled virtue in raw form. As a Christian wife, she mastered the concept and application of Love, the way God designed it. Her Love for her God, family and friends wasn’t about consumption, but rather essential and unconditional distribution.

Welcome Home, thy GOOD and FAITHFULL servant!
