MAKOKHA

Rev. Dr. Joy Adava Makokha, 68. Sunrise September 14, 1941 – Sunset August 3, 2010. She was born in Vihiga, Kenya to the late Reuben and Mikali Adego. Dr. Makokha was a graduate and professor at The Ohio State University. She labored and ministered along side with her husband as Bishopess over the Church of God in East Africa Kenya and fellowshipped with the Meadowpark Church of God in Columbus. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, 2 brothers and a sister. Left to cherish her memory husband Right Reverend Bishop Dr. Byrum Makokha, son Stafford Makokha, daughters Cherie (Stephen Hunt) Makokha, Unis (Rocky Maddex) Makokha, Esther (Pastor Samuel Jefferson) Makokha-Jefferson, and Agnes Makokha, brothers John Mark (Fani) Asava, Samson (Nifa) Ungiya and Phillip Modani, sisters Elizabeth (Jack) Okech, Roseline (Ben) Lewis and Ruth (Tiema) Muhando, 6 grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.

We became aquainted with Byrum and Joy at Meadow Park Church of God in Columbus Ohio. It was always a pleasure to see Joy's smiling face when she attended the church. We are very saddened by the passing of Joy. Our condolences go out to Byrum, the rest of the family, and all her friends.
