Rev. Roderick Davis was born on August 26, 1960 in Boligee, AL. to Rev. Robert and Cynthia Hill Davis.

He moved to Columbus at the early age of 7. He received Christ at age 10 being baptized at Ebenezer Baptist Church under the leadership of Doctor William McKinley Branch in Forkland, AL. after receiving the call from God to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ to be ordained by Doctor William McKinley Branch, He completed his education in the Columbus Public School system.

As a young adult, he started driving Semi trucks and working for Abbot food, Ohio Mulch & BLR Farms until his time of passing.

He was a faithful member of Christian Valley Baptist Church under his father’s leadership the late Rev. Robert Davis of East Mt. Olivet Baptist Church where he served as an associate minister under the leadership of Rev. Doctor Joseph Freeman Jr. Later joining Philadelphia Baptist Church of Love and Faith under the leadership of Pastor Rajer L. Brown until his death.

On the Sunday prior to his journey home, he preached his final sermon entitled, “The Keys.” A few of his last words as he addressed the congregation of Philadelphia Baptist Church. “If I never preach another sermon, know that I love you all.”

He is proceeded in death by his father Reverend Robert Davis; grandparents, Mr. Jake Hill, Sr., Mrs. Hattie L. Hill, Reverend Monroe Davis, and Mrs. Marie McDonald Davis; aunts, Mary Ann Woods, Amanda Davis Carter, Lula Madison, Polly Hill; uncles, Monroe Davis Jr., Jeffery Davis Sr., Emanuel Hill, Lewis Hill, Jake Hill, James Davis, John Davis,

He leaves to cherish his memories his beloved wife, Sylvia Davis; mother, Cynthia A. Hill- Davis; mother in law; Wille “Bell” Perry; children; Roderick (Regina) Davis Sr., Myoshi (Jermaine) Dickerson, Robert D. Davis Sr., Lynne Carter, Diamond Carter, Reggie Palmer, Marcus (Deanna) Floyd, Marshawn Floyd, Marcello Myers; grandchildren, Dez’Juan, Serenity, Avellino, Robert Jr., Ra’Niyea, Tariq, Roderick Jr., Marian, Brayden, Penelope, Tyana, Amylah, Selena, Sariyah, Aubrey, Madilyn, Martaeja, Marquez, Joanne, Jaburi, JayAndre, Jamira, Ja’Nayla, Marshawn Jr., Anna, Amir, Ace, Lilah; one sister, I. Visitation 10:00am and Funeral 11:00am Thursday August 2, 2018 at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church 567 Seymour Ave.

Interment at Evergreen Burial Park.
