Reverend Susanette Denise Johnson, age 65 of Columbus, Ohio, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, October 17, 2022.

Rev. Johnson was born May 6, 1957. She was a native of Youngstown, Ohio, and a graduate of Chaney High School. She was raised in a Christian home, the 3 child of six children in the Johnson family.

In her early adulthood she relocated to Columbus, Ohio with her parents, the late Rev. Theodore Walter and Sister Ruth Jane Johnson, where her Father was assigned as Pastor of St. Matthew Fire Baptized Holiness Church.  Through the prayers of her father and mother, she surrendered her life to Christ and began her Christian journey.

As Sister Johnson grew in her faith and devotion to Christ, under the direction of her loving parents, she become a devoted and faithful member of St. Matthew.

Rev. Johnson was employed in the Hospitality industry. During her time there, one of her many gifts came to light. She was an outstanding cook for the Hyatt Regency and Hilton Hotels. She also worked as a child care provider, where she sowed seeds of love to the little souls she encountered each and every day.

As a member of St. Matthew, Rev. Johnson served as the Jr. Mission President, a member of the Trustee Board, Assistant to the Mother Board, Assistant Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Superintendent, Usher Board, and a member of the Voices of Faith Choir.

Her love for the youth drove her heart and ministry. While serving as the YPI Supervisor of the Northeast Ohio District, many of the youth had opportunity to travel to and participate in various fellowship services within the FBH Church.

Rev. Johnson was called to the ministry and obtained a Bachelor and Master Degree in Theology. Her desire was to please God and see souls saved.

In her later years she become ill, yet, her faith stood strong; always willing to do what God required of her. She was a prayer warrior and prayed continually for her family, her church and many others during the prayer sessions on the NEO District Conference Call Line.

Her love for her family was infectious; everyone loved “Aunt Sue”. She led by example, holding fast to her faith. Through her prayers, many families, friends and associates came to know Jesus as their personal Savior.

Rev. Johnson was preceded in death by her parents listed above, and a brother, Lamont Theodore Johnson.

1Rev. Johnson leaves to cherish loving memories her sisters, Rev. Darlene Zanders, Wellsville, Ohio; Minister Linda Ruffin; Miss. Lavonia Johnson, Columbus, Ohio; one brother Mr. Arnet Johnson (Darlene) Camden New Jersey; her loving nieces and nephews, cousins, God-daughter and sons, special friends Minister Hephzibah, Minister Tammy Howard, Mrs. Phyllis Brown, Ms. Cindy Fields along with many many friends.

To the family and close friends of Ms. Susanette with love from “Mississippi”
That was her nickname for me. A very special lady whom I had the pleasure of meeting while my sweet sister (Nancy Strawser) was her close neighbor. She prayed for Nancy and she prayed for us all. She expressed her love for the Lord in so many ways in communicating not only with me but with many others who came by her way. She was truly an inspiration. God Bless Her. With Love, from “Mississippi.”
