Ricardo E. Maloto, Sr.

Ricardo Sr., “Carding”, age 86, a former resident of Mansfield Ohio passed away on Monday, August 22, 2022. Carding was born on May 3, 1936, to Felino C. Maloto and Ana E. Maloto. He graduated from Iloilo City High School and pursued his college education at Iloilo Maritime Academy for a year. Later on, his professional life began at the Iloilo City Police Office where he was assigned to the Subpoena, Warrant, and Licensing Division. He then retired in 2000 and became an active member of the Knights of Columbus where he made many lifelong friends. He loved to play baseball and volleyball and sing karaoke songs, especially at family gatherings.

Carding was a faithful and loving husband to his wife, Sevilla O. Maloto. In the years 2002 and 2006, they came to the United States as tourists. Afterward, they migrated to the country in 2010 and were granted US citizenship in April 2016. They were inseparable and their love for each other will live on in the lives of their five children, Jennifer M. Servando, Glenny M. Haynes, Ricardo O. Maloto Jr., Lorimil M. Alvañiz, and Mary June M. Magbanua, their nine grandchildren, Nikie M. Jeruta, Coleen Grace M. Servando, Celina L. Maloto, Denice Anne M. Magbanua, Ericka L. Maloto, Christian Vincent M. Alvañiz, Nicole M. Magbanua, Gwen L. Maloto, and Trixie Anne L. Maloto, and their two great-grandchildren, Ryan Nikolas Jeruta and Quinn Isabel Jeruta.

Carding was loved by his family in the Philippines and the United States and his passing is greatly felt in both parts of the world.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 8, 2022, from 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Marlan Gary Funeral Home, The Chapel of Peace Mansfield 753 McPherson St. Mansfield, OH 44903. Additional visitation will be at 10:00 AM followed by Mass Service at 11:00 AM Friday, September 9, 2022, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church 104 W. 1st St. Mansfield, OH 44902.
