RICHARD LAMARR LEIGH II was born in Columbus, OH on June 29, 1989,
to Richard L. and Diana M. Leigh.
As a young child, Richard attended Bible Way Church of Our Lord Jesus
Christ. He gave his life to the Lord and was baptized at age eight years old
at Rhema Christian Center. He spent much of his teen years participating
with friends in the youth programs at The Vineyard on Cooper Rd.
Richard’s professional accomplishments include being a Supervisor at TelePerformance, Technical Administrator for Original Design International and
DLM Consulting Group, Support Staff and Driver for Maranatha End Time
Ministries Annual Fall Retreat, and Executive Board Member of Hutchins
and Associates Realty.
Richard loved people and was a popular personality wherever he went. He
would spend holidays delivering Meals On Wheels to the elderly and
volunteering at the homeless shelter. He would often spend vacations
working with his school, Gahanna Christian Academy, on mission projects
and was a favorite with the young people when he spent his summer at an
orphanage in Mexico where he shared with the children how he too
understood and knew the hurt of losing a parent at a very young age.
Richard’s list of interests was extensive. Among them was a love of video
games, music, technology and the pride of being the best cook and the
smartest person in the family. But those who knew him well, knew that his
favorite passion was his love of dogs. He would collect paper for the puppies
at the pound and was” the “go to person” when his friends needed a dog
sitter, Wuggles being his “hands down” favorite.
Richard recently accepted his call to ministry and was co-authoring a book
with his mother which will be released later this year.
Awaiting him in glory is his father, Richard L. Leigh Sr.; grandmothers,
Christina. C. Hutchins and Sarah Leigh; grandfather, William Hutchins;
brother, Kevin Leigh; aunts Marilyn and Charlotte Leigh and uncles, Ulysses
Flemister, Larry Leigh and Charles Strider
Cherishing his memory are, mother, Diana (Larry) Morgan; sister, Tiffany
Leigh; brother, JeMel (Dakota) Williams; aunts, Christina Hutchins, Deborah
Williams and Carolyn Leigh; Uncle, Leslie Leigh, special cousin, Faye
Williams; Gabe Jugan; godparents, Melvin and Brenda Marshall and Dianne
Gholston, along with a host of cousins and extended family and friends.

Richard was one my closest friends. I have known him basically all of my adult life, and it felt like so much longer because of how great we got along. He was selfless, a wonderful friend and genuinely caring. He made me see things in ways no one else could, introduced me to a lot of the things I still love. I have wonderful memories with him, I will make sure to give Wuggles all the hugs he no longer can.

I am sorry for everyone’s loss. I know this is a hard time for his family and friends alike. Thr brightest lights tend not to burn the longest.

Condolence from Pamela Bateman (Wilson) on June 21st, 2019 5:15 pm

Rick was always so kind-hearted, forgiving, funny and a true-blue friend. I was the guidance counselor when Rick and my son attended GCA. He will be sorely missed and he truly was a “light in a dark place” (as Kylee Plouse so well stated)! I pray he is having a conversation with Jesus right now and smiling that big grin of a smile that he would always do at school. Prayers of comfort and peace to Rick’s mother and family!

Condolence from Irish J. Richardson on June 22nd, 2019 11:53 am

To the Leigh family. My heart is with you and your family at this time of your loss. There is comfort in knowing God’s promises about the resurrection hope. (Acts 24:15) and (John 5:28,29) In the past God has resurrected humans and He is eager to do it again because He hates death. (Mark 5:41-43) It is not God’s purpose originally for mankind to grow old, get sick and die. To learn more about God’s promises go to JW.ORG. There are online Bible study lessons featured and more. Love, Your Neighbor Irish J. Richardson
