Richard Lee Nellum, was born on November 15th, 1969 in Roanoke, Virginia. He passed away unexpectedly on April 13, 2020 at his home in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where he lived for the past10 years before leaving Columbus, Ohio.He was the loving son of Gwendolyn Nellum and the late Charles Ramsey.

Richard had such a beautiful loving soul. He was known for his amazing smile that could light up any room. He was always willing to help others in need. He had a passion for nature and loved working in the LandscapeIndustry. Rick’s dream was to become a mechanic, repairing cars like his father. He was so intelligent, he loved electronics and technology with a passion. Ricky was known for traveling the world, he could get from one end of the planet to the other end on just a dollar. Whatever Ricky put his mind to, he could do it.Even though hedidn’t have children of his own, he loved and cherished his nieces and nephews as if they were his. Family was everything to him, he loved and cherished all of his family and will be deeply missed by them. Before Ricky passed away, he turned his life over to the Lord. He was a member of Covenant Church of Pittsburgh, where he was baptized.

Richard is preceded in death by his grandparents Beulah and James Ramsey; father, Charles Ramsey aka Sunny; uncles, Victor Nellum and Clifford Cotton of Roanoke, VA; and cousin, Freddy Wooden of Columbus, OH.

Richard leaves to cherish his memory, mother, Gwendolyn Nellum;grandmother, Marjorie Pye-Cotton;sister, Tamika Nellum;brother, Dontae Nellum of Columbus, OH;brother, Jim Ramsey of Roanoak, VA;aunts, Gloria Cotton, Jeanette Burton, Patricia Carter of Columbus, OH; Kelly Ramsey, Minnie Ramsey of Roanoke, VA; uncles, Howard Lee Nellum, Jerry Nellum, Bob Nellum of Columbus, OH; and James Nellumof Roanoke, VA; nieces, Danaisha Nellum, Sha’de Harris, Milijah and Dalila Nellum; nephews, Sadique and Dontae Jr. Nellum of Columbus, OH and very dear and specials friends of the family Ron Pulliam and Persita West of Pittsburgh, PA and MeeshaMeeks; and a host of cousins and friends.

“God said Come To Me…God saw you were getting tired and a cure was not to be, so he put his arms around you, and whispered “Come to me”. He suffered much in silence; his spirit did not bend. He faced his pain with courage until the very end.
Although we loved you dearly, We could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.” We love you Rickie…you may be gone but never forgotten, you will be truly missed baby boy.

Visitation held at 4:00PM followed by 5:00pm Memorial Service Saturday, May 16, 2020 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE EAST, 5456 E. Livingston Ave. (one block east of Noe Bixby, turn North on Lonsdale Rd).
