Richard Manigoe loved living for the Lord and even in the midst of the storm he never lost faith.  The Lord used Ms. Nealor Green in 1979 to introduce Mr. and Mrs. Manigoe to Jerusalem Tabernacle Baptist Church.  The Manigoe family made “The Tabernacle “their church home under Reverend I. R. Witcher for many years.  Richard Manigoe was born on May 12, 1940 to the parents of Joe and Daisy Manigoe in Columbus, Ohio.  He graduated from East High school, located on the east side of Columbus.

 Richard Manigoe met and married the love of his life, Barbara Cannon whom he always referred to as “Little Barbie.”  From this union came four wonderful children, Prez Manigoe, Arnez Manigoe, Shawn Ramsey and Shelly Manigoe.

 Richard believed very deeply in the value of family and each Friday night fish fry and Sunday dinner was filled with funny stories, life lessons and praise and worship.  Richard enjoyed spending time with his family and sharing his love for fishing with his sons (Prez and Arnez Manigoe) that included countless fishing and camping trips.  

 Richard became a deacon in 1980.  Under the leadership of R. Nathaniel Kemper, he became an ordained minister of the gospel in 2007. In Richard’s downtime his favorite movies to watch were the Ten Commandments, Rocky, Jaws, Alien and Enter the Dragon.  His favorite foods were navy beans and cornbread, as well as collard greens, fried chicken and fish.  He shared wonderful times with his daughters Shawn Ramsey (whom he would call “Pooh-Bear”) and Shelly Manigoe, (whom he referred to as “Sea-Shell”).

 Richard loved to write plays that he would share through performance at the Tabernacle.  He joined the Brotherhood and the Men’s Choir.  He worked at Timken, Wonderbread and ultimately became an insurance agent with Western Southern for over 25 years.

 Later in life, due to health problems, Reverend Manigoe resided at Crown Pointe.  There he led Bible studies.  Reverend Manigoe always shared famous quotes with his children.  Some of them were, “once you walk out those doors, that’s where the love ends”, “it beats a blank” and lastly, “just come along for the ride”.
