Rita Ramona Kearney (Mahogany) Emmanuel, age 79 went home to be with the Lord on Saturday January 16, 2021 with her daughter by her side, following a long illness.

Rita was born in Columbus, Ohio and spent most of her life as an LPN nurse. She was always supporting and encouraging others, a friend to everyone she met. She counseled, inspired for many to be their best. Rita belonged to various clubs over the years such as Eastern Star, Love Thy Neighbor Chapter 137, ITC Club, Lions Club, and President of the Nursing Association.

Rita was a faithful member of New Salem Baptist Church for over 20 years. She participated in various church plays and numerous fashion shows. Mahogany as she was called sometime, loved taking pictures and being at other social events. All of her life, Rita had a very loving and giving spirit. After battling a courageous, second bout with cancer, the Lord said she had done enough and called her home to rest. Rita (Mahogany) will be forever missed by all who knew her.

Rita is preceded in death by her father, James A Kearney; grandmother, Jessie M. Henry; sister, Aloma F. Mason and niece Nena Elaine Carr Jackson.

Rita is survived by loving children, son, Marvin S. Kyle Jr. (Columbus, Ohio); daughter, Yolonda L. Kyle (Reynoldsburg, Ohio); son, Tony Lee (Columbus, Ohio); mother, Mary Cassells-Kearney (Columbus, Ohio); brothers, Franklin (Peggy) Kearney (Pickerington, Ohio), Larry Kearney (Columbus, Ohio), and Jimmy Jacob (Columbus, Ohio); sisters, Linda (Richard) Carr (Columbus, Ohio), and Teresa (Winston) Murray (Columbus, Ohio); special grandchildren, Ray, Autumn, Ryan, Rom, Ariel, Ariana, August, and Analyah; and many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and wonderful friends have blessed her life. But now she is at peace with her heavenly father.

My deepest condolences and empathy go out to the family, friends, and associates of my cousin Rita. I’m blessed to have known. She was real. Her references to the divine one and scriptures resonated to inspire me. The final phone call was not known to be such, but I’m so glad to have it remember. Much love to all.

Aunt Rita is at home with God, our family, our ancestors. She is no longer in pain nor suffering and I along with the rest of her family and friends find solace in knowing that. We will miss her but she is in the best possible hands with our Lord. I know that we will miss her and will have some hard days in the upcoming days, weeks, and months. We have to lean on God and one another during our hard moments and know that it is written: “God comforts those who grieve and are sorrowful.” God Bless Aunt Rita, the family, and her friends.
