Mr. Robert Lee Hudgins Sr. “Bob” was born the son of the late Pincy Hudgins and Ernest C. Hudgins Sr. He was born on April 12, 1939, in Wesley, WV. He attended the public schools in Kanawha County and was a graduate of London High School.

He was a hardworking family man who was a gifted craftsman skilled in all aspects of construction. He could build anything; in fact, his credentials were so prestigious he is credited for building the Monumental Kahiki Restaurant. He built churches, custom homes, basements, roofing, poured concrete etc. He built the first three-wheeler motorcycle in Columbus, OH and he invented the first remote start.

He spent 20 years working construction with Dino Pezzot Construction and 15 years with the Columbus Asphalt Paving Company. He continued his career as an independent contractor until he was called home to be with the Lord.

His hobbies were fishing, camping, classical movies, cooking, singing and he loved to dance. He dressed himself in fine haberdashery influenced by his father. He was a member of the Travelers’ Rest Baptist Church and sung in the Male Chorus. He knew the Lord well.

As a young man he was very attentive to his mother assisting with his younger siblings. As an adult he married Pearlie Mae Johnson and they had five beautiful children: Deborah Ann Hudgins-Knox, Katie Lee Hudgins, Robert Lee Hudgins Jr., Carolyn Lorraine Hudgins, Kim Melissa Hudgins. This union was blessed with fifteen grandchildren and twenty-six great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Pincy Hudgins, Ernest C. Hudgins Sr., Bill Hudgins (Brother), Iwon Hudgins (Brother), Janet Hudgins-Dean (Sister), Harriet Hudgins-St. John (Sister), Ernest C. Hudgins Jr. (Brother), Paul Hudgins (Brother), Robert Lamont Hudgins (Grandson).

He leaves his legacy to, Lorraine Easley (Sister) Columbus, OH, Carrie Matt (Sister) Charleston, WV, Mary Holman (William) (Sister) Columbus, OH, Queenie Redd (Sister) Grapevine, Texas, Irene Hudgins (Sister), Beckley, WV, Ralph Hudgins (Carolyn) (Beloved Brother), Columbus, OH, Special friend Felecia Jones, Columbus, OH and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Private Visitation 11:00 AM and Private Funeral Service 12:00 PM Friday, June 4, 2021 at Travelers Rest Baptist Church, 1533 Cleveland Ave. Mask and Social Distancing are required. Interment at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
