Robert Phillips was born on September 5, 1938 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the union of Thomas and Venita Phillips. He departed this life on November 15, 2019.
Robert grew up in Cincinnati along with two brothers and one sister and attended Cincinnati public Schools. At the age of 16 or 17 he made his permanent move to Columbus, Ohio where he lived with a special aunt and uncle Webb and Ada Phillips. Robert gravitated to the Holmes family and became a foster child of Robert and Julia Holmes.
Roberts journey with Christ started at an early age. He was baptized at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist where he served faithfully until moving his membership to Second Baptist where he served on the user board, and in the food pantry, and afterschool bible school Men’s fellowship. Robert was last employed by Second Baptist Church as a custodian. He was a committed employee and on his way to work when he had his stroke.
In addition to his parents, Robert is preceded in death by wife of one year and his sister Rose whom he loved dearly, uncle Webb and aunt Ada, foster parents Robert and Julia Holmes, and four foster brothers.
Robert leaves to cherish his memory; brothers Jimmy and Thomas Phillip, Raymond, Michael and William, Anthony and Carlton, and one sister Tonia, foster sisters Sylvia Joan, Carolyn and Deborah Holmes, and Dorothy Weekly, also a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Visitation 10:00 AM and Funeral Service 11:00 AM Friday, November 22, 2019 at Second Baptist Church,186 N 17th St.
Interment at Union Cemetery Association
