Rodney McLemore Jr

On September 10, 2019 God, in his infinite wisdom, opened heaven’s gates and called his faithful servant home to be with him. Rodney Edward McLemore Jr., was born November 10th, 1993 in Columbus, Ohio to the parents of Rodney Sr., and Jennifer McLemore.

His educational journey gave him studies at East High School, Fort Hayes Career Center, and he was a Super Honor Roll Graduate at Whetstone High School in June 2012. Rodney achieved many Awards during his academic years; Honor Roll student from 9th through 12th grade, Fort Hayes Career Center Theater I & Theater II 4.0 Achievement, Certificate of Recognition from Columbus Rotary Club, Membership of The National Society of High School Scholars, Kenyon Academic Partnership ( Kenyon College), Ohio State University’s Writers Talk, and Black Box Theater Company-Stanley Award (Best Comic Monologue).

Extracurricular Activities included: Columbus State Upward Bound, Ohio Youth Voices, Kenyon College Young Writers Workshop, The American Legion Buckeye Boys State (Bowling Green, Oh), and Volunteer work with the Special Olympics Bowl-a-thon.

Rodney’s love and Passion for the Arts in Dance, Music and Acting lead him to pursue and achieve theatrical excellence. He was committed and dedicated to any challenge he sort, and his accomplishments bought him honors of distinction. His talents took him on many travels. He performed in Middle School, High School, Theaters, Churches, and Dance Studios, no stage was to great or small for his love of performing. He performed at The King Arts Complex/ The Soul of the City Production in “The WIZ”, LaVerne Reed Productions of New York in “The Chocolate Nut Cracker”, Fort Hayes Career Center Productions of “Hair Spray”, “Cinderella On Demand”, East High School Productions of “The Christmas Carol”, “Martha’s Journey”/Kelton House Project, “ Cinderella”, “Miss Julie” By August Strindberg, CDance Company for the Arts “Alllie and The Land of Wonders”, “The Adventures of Pan”, “Jugha’s Journey”, “The Gift in You” – Trivia Game Show – Featuring the Dance Production. He performed with several Production and Dance Companies: African Dance Group, Northland Performing Arts, 5th Year Masterpiece, Dance 411 “Behind The Movement” (a non-profit organization), For The Love of Dance, Luv2Danz Studios, and participated in Hip-Hop (non-violence support group).

He never stopped being Rodney, no matter what the vineyard. In his work environment it was just his nature to be an over achiever there too. He earned a Certificate of Completion of eTIPS, provided by Health Communications, Inc, Hospitality Specialist, at Homewood Suites Columbus Airport.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents George & Alice McLemore, grandfather William H. White, Jr, and a uncle Robin McLemore.

Rodney leaves to cherish his memories, his mother Jennifer McLemore, father Rodney (Angela) McLemore Sr., sisters Shala Wilder, Kara Frazier, brother Dale Chapman, grandmother Irene White, grandfather Clusbie (Cassandra) Eaddy, aunts LaQuita Allison, Detra Eaddy, Renee Reed, Rhonda McLemore, cousins Jovon Allison, Brittanie Boyd, and Jeremy McLemore, a host of other loving relatives and friends.

Visitation 9:00AM and Funeral Service 10:00AM Saturday, September 21, 2019 at Woodland Christian Church, 143 Woodland Ave.

Interment at Eastlawn Cemetery.

I am so very sorry to hear about Rodney’s passing. I got to know him in my weekly stays at Homewood Suites. He was always so professional, very friendly and warm. We used to talk about travels and his desire to go to Japan someday. I will miss his smiling face. Heaven has surely gained a bright star with Rodney. My deepest condolences to his family.

We would like to share our condolences with Rodney’s family. It’s never easy saying goodbye to a love one. The pain of loss can be unbearable. Our Creator promises that one day this pain will be a memory, that beautiful promises can be found at Revelation 21:3&4. We hope you find comfort in these promises. Thinking of you all.
