Roland Johnson, Jr

johnson

Roland Scott Johnson Jr. was born November 22, 1964 to Roland Johnson, Sr and Norma Jean Saine. The Johnson’s built their home in the Southfield neighborhood. Here, Roland found a love of cars and motorcycles, community, and family.

Roland was a graduate of Marion Franklin High School. He played baseball and basketball. Roland also began to repair vehicles with his best friend Vincent Jones. After High School Roland joined the Army branch of the Military. He served proudly until his release. At this time Roland was blessed with his loving son Roland Jamel Johnson. Roland returned to Columbus where he attended trade school. Roland became a master insulator and was a proud union brother of Frost and Insulation 50 Columbus/Dayton.

To his family and friends, Roland was known for his kind heart. He was always there to lend a helping hand. Roland would sing all of the time. He could be quite the jokester, telling silly jokes to make everyone laugh.

Roland was preceded in death by his parents, Roland Johnson Sr. and Norma Jean Saine; and sister, Elania “Sissy” Johnson.

Roland is survived by his partner, Vanessa Poindexter; son, Roland “Jamel” Johnson; stepson, Tyreece Massey; grandchildren, Lemaj Johnson, Javeah Johnson, Azzaria Chandler, and Kennedy Massey; siblings, Rebecca Johnson Peaks, Steve (Pat) Johnson, and Jerri Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and extended family.
