Deacon Ronald Jacobs

Ronald Jacobs

Ronald Jacobs was born November 10, 1950, in Brooklyn, New York to Edna Jacobs and Daniel Jacobs. He went home to be with the Lord on November 18, 2022, at Mt. Carmel East Hospital. He is survived by his wife Dorothy Jacobs. Ronald Jacobs graduated with an associate degree in Finance from Staten Island University. He worked for Amtrak in New York. When he changed his life and got off drugs, he moved to Columbus Ohio where he retired from Chase Bank as a Financial Advisor.

Ronald was a very nice and kind person who cared for so many people. He used his testimony of being cleaned from drugs for over 32 years to touch lives wherever he went. After arriving in Columbus, he went to Narcotics Anonymous Meetings (NA) three times a week to keep his commitment to himself to stay drug free. He realized that God saved his life through going to his NA meetings and became a sponsor. He went into the prisons to talk with and help motivate men that were incarcerated. The Saturday before he passed, he went to Lancaster to speak to the inmates. He also serves as a mentor and sponsor to some of the men at Mt. Zion. He married Dorothy Jacobs in October 1976 and recommitted their love to each other, by repeating their second wedding vows in December 1993. They had a running joke about how they met because they met hanging out with friends. Dorothy remembered the first time that she saw him. She thought he was so sharp and had money, until she realized he fooled her and was walking home.

When they got married, they became one and were able to stay together for 47 years because they kept people out of their business and was each other’s best friends. They did everything together, never argued or went to bed angry.

Deacon Jacobs fell in love with Pastor Humphrey, First Lady Nichole, and his Mt. Zion Church Family. He served faithfully as a Deacon and in the Media Ministry. Deacon Ronald and Pastor Humphrey shared the same love for OSU’s football team, and they would talk and text constantly on game day. Deacon Ronald Jacobs will truly be missed.

The Lord has called home a great saint, who leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Dorothy Jacobs, son, Ronald Lee (Ebony) Jacobs; 5 grandchildren, Carica, Imani, Najaya, Essence, and
Robert Laron Jacobs. He is survived by his brother; William (Ann) Etheridge; sisters Sheila Etheridge, Marilyn Etheridge. Host of nephews, nieces, and other relatives.

Visitation 10:00am and Funeral 11:00am Monday, November 28, 2022 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 1535 Dewey Ave.
