Ruby Pegram

PegramRuby

Ruby H. Pegram was born March 2, 1938, to the union of the late Lee and Willie Mae Hayes in Gilmore, AK. She moved to Columbus, OH at a very early age and was educated in the Columbus Public School system. She continued her studies at Bliss Business School.

Ruby confessed her hope in Christ under the leadership of the late Dr. R.F. Hairston Sr. of Refuge Baptist Church.

On April 4, 1959, she was united in marriage to James Phillip Pegram, they had 3 children, Philicia Pegram, Lynna Qualls, and Mark Pegram.

Ruby started her career as an assistant for Attorney Saunders. After that she was employed at IBM for 30 years before retiring and then went to work at Sherwin Williams and retired after 16 years.

Ruby was loved by so many people and was ready to lend a helping hand wherever needed. She would do all that she could for her family; she loved all her nieces and nephews like her own children. She would never turn anyone away that needed a place to stay. She had a fabulous sense of style and was always dressed to the nines. She was fun to be around and loved having lots of people over her house. It was known for good music and card games that could last all night. As an avid OSU football fan, she threw plenty of football parties. She loved to laugh and said she could have been a comedian. She was known to catch you off guard with her quick wit.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Willie Mae Hayes; daughter, Philicia Pegram; and siblings, Julia, Eddie, Luther, Mildred, MJ, Jeff, Mary, Thomas, Hamer, Herman, and Calvin (Pete).

Ruby leaves to cherish her memory, children, Lynna Qualls and Mark Pegram; grandchildren, Amber Pegram, Mark Leonard, Adam Qualls, Domonique Qualls, Michelle Connolly, Taylor Qualls, and Avean Pegram-Benton; great-grandchildren, Kaira Pegram, Julian Suriel, Kyndal Qualls, Aniyah Qualls, Lascelle Lee III, and Amora Qualls; and a host of special nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, great-grand nieces and nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.

Visitation 10:00am and Funeral 11:00am Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at Mt. Hermon Missionary Baptist Church, 2283 Sunbury Road.
