Ruth Eleanor Kirk, was born to the late Wilbur U. and Margaret T. Richardson on June 5, 1944. She was a resident born and raised in Columbus Ohio. Ruth attended Central High School in Columbus, Ohio where she received a High School Diploma. Ruth and Charles Kirk were married, to this union two children Sean A. Kirk and Kimberly M. Kirk; Ruth also had another daughter,
Cheryl Hamocks. Ruth was a member of the Sheppard United Methodist Church in Columbus, Ohio. She worked in the church with various ministries such as the food pantry, Sunday school, sang in the choir, and devoted her time to wherever she was needed to show her devotion to God. Ruth worked for the United States Postal Service for over 30 years until her
time of retirement. Ruth was an avid down-hard Cleveland Browns football fan. If the game was on, she would not answer her phone. She would say, “I will call them back!” but she would not answer the phone! Nothing came between her and her BROWNIES. Ruth also loved watching basketball, going to the casino, playing bingo, but over the last four years of her life she enjoyed posting on her Facebook page.

Ruth E. Kirk departed this life on February 7, 2021 at Mt. Carmel East Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret T., and Father, Wilbur U. Richardson, brothers, David Richardson and Ronnie Richardson. She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Sean A. (Mary) Kirk, Daughter’s, Kimberly M. Kirk, and Cheryl Hamocks; granddaughters,
Monique (Sidney) Hamilton, Antionette Hamilton; three great-grandchildren, Ayden, Kayden, and Kyssi; special best friend, Diane Reed; brothers, Dwight (Gloria) Richardson, Mike (Sue) Richardson, of Columbus, Ohio; Special Aunt, Emma Vaughn, of Maryland. Ernie,
I know you were close to Ruthie. I remember how much of a Browns fan she was. We all shared so many fun times working together at the AMF. For some reason she was on my mind today and I discovered this sad news. Rest in peace dear friend Ruthie.

Rest In Peace dear Ruth and catch up with your friend Chuck in heaven. Ruth was such a sweet, loving, caring person and friend. Chuck always spoke so highly of her all of the years they worked together and in retirement. I will miss your Facebook posts and sharing a laugh with you.

My deepest sympathies on your loss! My dad, Chuck Miceli, worked with Ruth for many years! We heard so many stories about “Ruthie!” Then, over Facebook we really got to know her, especially when my dad passed in April. She was a wonderful soul with so much passion!

I was so surprised to hear of Ruth’s passing. It has been nearly a year since I last seen her. Kurt Simko and I help with a bible study at Ottawa Ridge on Friday nights and we have not been able to meet since Covid has hit. Ruth was the reason there was a bible study at Ottawa Ridge. She hired a personal trainer, Matt, who was a Christian and she asked him if he could start a bible study. That was over 11 years ago. It began with Matt and Kurt, along with Ruth and Millie, sitting around a little table reading the bible. Since then, the group has grown and residents have learned about Jesus and some have come into a relationship with Him through this bible study. Ruth always sat to the right of the teacher because she didn’t want miss a thing, especially if she forgot her hearing aid! She loved Jesus, she loved to sing, and she loved to share Jesus. She knew the power of prayer and she always was asking for prayers for family and friends. My prayers go out to her family and friends for comfort, strength, and peace at this time. I know Ruth would want those mourning to lean on Jesus. John 14:27

Kim and Family,

You Are All In Our Prayers. May God Give You Peace, Strength, Comfort, And Blessings.

Ruth was a valued Co-Worker at the USPS and Neighbor in the St. Mary’s Neighborhood and Friend. You could always count on Ruth to be jovial and uplifting! Her and I were fans of early Rap Music (clean).l One of her favorite lines was “It’s like a Jungle out there!”

Sad as it is that she has left us, her memories are many and wonderful.
