Sadie was born to Johnnie and Katie Owens Pipkins on October 28, 1948 in Birmingham, AL. She was raised in Mansfield, Ohio graduating from Mansfield Senior High in 1966 and went on to marry Ronald Boone in 1967, who preceded her in death.

Sadie later moved to Columbus, Ohio where she was a babysitter for parents as well as her niece and nephews. She was always willing to help anyone who needed it. She then started her career at the Ohio Dept. of Taxation. She made many friends and memories over her 30 plus years of service, leading to her retirement in early 2019.

She was a loving & caring mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who loved spending time with family and friends, shopping for shoes, traveling and enjoyed trips to the casino. Sadie was truly a beacon of light; her generosity knew no bounds. Even in passing she found a way to continue her selflessness, by giving the gift of sight and life to others in need.

She was preceded in death by her parents Johnnie Pipkins and Katie Owens Pipkins.

Sadie is survived by her 4 children, Ronald Boone, Kimberly (Dante) Freeman, Katie Boone and Kelli Boone. Her siblings Emma (Odell) Suber, Johnny Lawrence and Patricia Bradley Rooks. Eight grandchildren Payton, Paris, Pacific & Tasyana Boone, Kingston & Cassius Freeman & Sire & Zoë Rodgers. She also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews.

Condolence from Ruth Johnson on January 10th, 2021 2:29 pm

To the Family Sadie Mae Boone,
Emma, Trish, Johnny, Sate’s children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews — I know that your hearts are heavy and hurting now with the sudden loss of Sate — mine is too! Sate was a kind, loving, generous and beautiful person. She was a sister to me. I remember when I was depressed after losing my grandmother and brother only months apart; Sate kept my boys until I got myself together with my grief — that was the kind of person that Sate was — always helping. She will always be cherished in my heart and I know that it is hard right now, but we will always remember her and the good times that we experienced being in her presence and that with the help of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, we are going to be able to get through this difficult time in our lives. Stay faithful because God is the controller of all things. Sate is okay now; she is with our Lord and Savior where we are now striving to be one day be. I love you all!
With love,
Ruthie Johnson and Family

Condolence from Suzanne Mayo on January 11th, 2021 8:09 pm

I was so shocked and saddened to hear about Sadie. We had just texted each other on New Years Day, and she told me she was feeling better.
Several years ago, I was an intermittent employee at the tax department. That’s when I met Sadie. I was brand new, didn’t know anyone, and she was my first friend there. We connected from the very first and did everything together that year. At the end of that first year, she organized a little going away party for me, bringing in food, and giving me gifts. The next years that I worked there, we worked in the mailroom at tax time. We did everything together, from eating lunch, to sneaking off to getting coffee, and just having a great time together. My second year, we met Christine, and she was another member of our group, with Sadie being our leader. She made our jobs so much fun. She was always making sure our little group could be together for everything. I will always hold in my heart these moments we were together, laughing, sneaking around for coffee, and going out for lunch whenever we could. Sadie, lit up the room whenever she was around and I will always treasure the memories I have with her.

To the Family of Sadie Mae Boone,
Emma, Trish, and Johnny, Sate’s children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, you are all in our prayers during this difficult and trying time. Sate was a sister to me and she was one of the most loving, giving, and compassionate person that I know. The time that I lost my grandmother and brother in the same year and I was going through a difficult time, Sate took my children and kept them for me until I got myself together. Now that is a sister. Sate is in Heaven with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and she is alright now. Take care — I love you all and we will get through this difficult time together.
With Love,
Ruthie Johnson and Family
