Sammy Anderson was born March 9, 1955, in Greenwood, Mississippi to Valedeon and Roosevelt Anderson. He was the twelfth child out of fourteen children. He was raised in Columbus, Ohio and attended Trevitt and Milo Elementary and Monroe Middle Schools.

Sammy was a wonderful friend and if you were sad, he always was the one to bring you up, and make you happy and you would have a smile on your face. He was a fighter. Sammy passed away October 17, 2022. He loved to cuss you out and don’t care how you feel. He was very independent and a very hard-working person. He loved to crack jokes all day every day, play his numbers and lottery, and he loved to talk trash to everybody.

Sammy loved to ride the Cota bus with his niece Doll. Him and his niece Cookie used to go at it every day like they were brother and sister. He loved to call his sister Tiny 10 times a day and say I love you and I’m sorry Tiny.

Sammy is preceded in death by his parents, Valedeon Roddy Roosevelt Anderson Sr.; and siblings, Minnie Burst, Viola Anderson, Claudette (Robert) Wilson, Verlon (Frank) Horton, Bay Ray Anderson, Isaac (Regina) Anderson, Roosevelt Anderson, Jr and recently Betty Ann Anderson.

Sammy leaves behind his son, Brian Williams, siblings, Brown Anderson, Julie May Anderson, Arthur Anderson, Barbara Banks; a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces, and great nephews; and his two special friends, Peggy Carelock, and Brian Roe.

He loved to spell his name out to you, My Name is Sammy S-A-M-M-M-Y… Anderson, A-N-D… I don’t know the rest….
