Sharon D. Coulter-Cross

In Memorial

Sharon Denise “Neicey” Cross (Coulter), June 30, 1959 – April 18, 2023.

On April 18, 2023, our beloved Neicey was called home to be with the Lord.

Born June 30, 1959, in Danville, KY to Fannie Mae Coulter (Harlan) and George Lee “Big G” Coulter Sr. Neicey was the third born of her siblings, following older brothers George Coulter Jr. and Gary “Wayne” Coulter and was big sister to Anthony Coulter, Amanda Taylor, and Alana Coulter.

At 21, Neicey gave birth to her oldest daughter, Amber–Leigh ReedCurry. At 25, she gave birth to her youngest, Crystal Reed. Soon after, she moved to Columbus, Ohio, where she began a career with the state. She started off working with OSU as a telephone operator and later moved on to data entry. Finally, Neicey worked as a corrections officer, which she continued until her retirement in 2013.

In the late 80s/early 90s Neicey met her late husband, Wylie Cross Sr. Her and Wylie married in 2013 and she gained 3 additional children: Wylie Cross Jr. (deceased), Shawntay Cross, and James Cross.

She graduated from Bryan Station High School and later returned to school to become a medical assistant in 2010. After her retirement from corrections she briefly returned to work as a CNA.
Neicey loved traveling, spending time with friends and family, sweets, thrifting, listening to music, nature, Black trivia, reading, doing crafts, and shopping.

In 2001 she became a 1st time grandma at 42. She was blessed with five grandchildren: Tiana Reed–Horton, D’Andrea Reed, Keuon Reed–Horton, Jaiden Reed–Horton, and most recently in 2020, Joshua Jones–Carpenter.

In February 2020, Neicey began her biggest and hardest battle when she was diagnosed with cancer. Doctors gave her 6 months to live, but thankfully, God had other plans! She continued to not only fight, but LIVE! She gave cancer HELL!
She never gave up, fighting the good fight until her last breath.

Neicey leaves behind her Father George Coulter Sr. (Susan); Siblings George Coulter Jr. (Helen), Gary “Wayne” Coulter (Janice), Anthony Coulter, Amanda Taylor, Alana Coulter, and Thomas Wells; Children Crystal Reed, Amber-Leigh ReedCurry (Darrell), and Sherita Gwinn; Grandchildren Tiana Reed–Horton, Keuon Reed–Horton, Jaiden Reed–Horton, D’Andrea Reed, Joshua Jones–Carpenter, Seangei Gwinn–Johnson, and Simone Gwinn–Johnson; Life long friends Linda Tanner and Elaine Ray; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends!
