Sharon Givens

GivensSharon

Sharon Marie Roddy was born to Betty Roddy and James Harris on July 27, 1949 in Columbus, Ohio. She was the middle child surrounded by three brothers. She was a fun and loving young person who loved to play and enjoy each day. She grew up in Columbus and attended Columbus City Schools. After graduating from Linden McKinley High School, she attended Ohio Cosmetology School and went on to become a Licensed Beautician. Sharon was fond of a well put together look.

Sharon married James Givens and birthed two children, James “Monty” Givens and Jerrone Givens. She believed in her boys and encouraged them to use their talents. They had a natural ability to build and fix things. Ever the proud Mama, she would welcome a conversation to talk about the work that her sons had done inside and around her house and anywhere else they might have used their skills.

Sharon loved her family and especially loved spending time with her grand-children and great grand-children. Her life lessons have provided a lifetime of wisdom with a theme of hope and encouragement.
When she was more mobile, she loved to travel and was always open for an adventure. She was a woman who believed in the power of God and could be heard listening to and singing along with her Gospel Music. She would also share her testimony with anyone who would listen about how good God had been to her. Her beautiful smile and warm embraced will be missed my all.

Sharon is preceded in death by parents, Betty Roddy and James Harris; brothers, James Harris and Robert Roddy; and grandson, Dwayne Burgess.

Sharon is survived by brother, Stanley Harris; sons, James “Monty” Givens and Jerrone Givens; grandchildren, Nickeita, James, Amber, Jerrone, Jerronica, Tansem, Talya, Ashley, and Shayonna; great-grandchildren, Malea, Ahmyla, Alina, Carmelo, Camille, Dwayne, Cai’Ara, Cayden, Charli, and Harper; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
