Shawna Towns-Thompson

Shawna Towns

Shawna L. Towns -Thompson was born November 11, 1969, in Columbus, Ohio to the late Dorothy J. Terrell. She is the second oldest of 7 children. She met Curtis Thompson in 1987 and they were united in marriage in 1994 – joining and raising their blended families together. Shawna was loving, fun and a protective sister to her siblings – she carried over those traits when she started caring for her own children.

Shawna attended Walnut Ridge High School. After high school, she worked as a State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA). After several decades of working as a STNA, she decided to attend Brown Mackie College to obtain her LPN license. Due to a knee injury accident while going grocery shopping; Shawna could not finish school or continue working. Therefore, she became a homemaker – caring for her children full-time and helping with her grandchildren (whom were the light of her life).

During her free time, she loved writing poetry and singing along to some of her favorite artist – Denise Williams and Prince – while cooking dinner for her family. She (and husband) LOVED entertaining – Shawna’s siblings, friends, previous coworkers, and in-laws looked forward to Shawna and Curt’s weekend parties. She made sure everyone felt at home and made sure people had enough to eat when they were over her house. Shawna will be TRULY missed!!!!!

Shawna was preceded in death by her husband Curtis E. Thompson, Daughter LaTira M. Towns, Mother Dorothy J. Terrell, Grandparents L.B and Bernice Towns, and Brother Ronald B. Towns. She leaves to cherish her memory her three children Ronald J. Towns, TaQuila C. Gay, and JaQuan C. Thompson; four grandchildren MaQuel C. Thompson, Jernei S. Campbell, Aubree L. Thompson and Kamren C. Thompson; five siblings Wanda L. Terrell, Lavanda J. Terrell, Amectra C. Franklin, Charmella A. Terrell and Vharmella (Anthony) Bright and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
