Shirley Cecilia (Goodwin) Anglin was born on January 17, 1934, to Pleasant Goodwin and Alice Goodwin (Duckett) in the city of Washington DC. She moved to Philadelphia Pennsylvania with her sisters Bernice, Ruby, and Edie. She would grow and mature into a beautiful woman working as a waitress and bartender. She mothered six children (Regina, Rita, Allen, Alexander, Anthony and Andre’), helped raise numerous neighborhood and immediate family members’ children, and wed her husband of over 50 years, Mr. Arthur Anglin. Arthur and Shirley eventually moved to Columbus, Ohio taking with them their two youngest sons (Anthony and Andre’) along with two youngest daughters (Angela and Anita). Once the family was settled in Columbus, Shirley took college courses at Columbus Technical Institute (CTI, now known as Columbus State Community College) where she earned an Associate Degree in Social Work.

Shirley was a vibrant soul that loved life and people. She loved to cook, and she gave to everyone that needed help: physically, mentally, morally, and spiritually. She loved The LORD and witnessed and told everyone she encountered about GOD’S goodness, mercy, and grace. Shirley transitioned from labor to reward on August 12, 2021. She was loved by everyone she met, and she will be dearly missed. Farewell good and faithful servant until we meet again.

Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Anglin Jr.; parents, Alice (Duckett) Goodwin and Pleasant Goodwin; stepfather, Henry Lisby; sisters, Bernice Leach and Edith Ford; daughters, Regina Goodwin-Lee and Rita (Goodwin) White; sons, Alexander Goodwin and Allen Goodwin.

Shirley leaves to cherish her memory sons, daughters, sons-in-law, a daughters-in-law, numerous grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Visitation 10:00am and Funeral 11:00am Friday, August 20, 2021 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE NORTH, 2500 Cleveland Ave.
