Shirley Mae Thompson was born January 27, 1946 to Walter Jones and Catherine (Cannady) Huckleberry in Keystone, West Virginia. She departed this earthly life on April 11, 2018 in Columbus, Ohio.

Shirley Mae attended Kimball High School in Kimball, WV. Shirley Mae moved to Columbus when she was 16 years old. In 1962, Shirley Mae married the love of her life Robert Thompson and bore 5 children during their union. Shirley Mae managed her uncle A.C.’s carryout store, and was also employed by Discover Card. Shirley Mae enjoyed fishing, playing cards, bingo, watching her grandchildren play, she loved Madea movies; and entertaining company that would come to visit. Shirley Mae was a people person that exhibited love wherever she went.

Shirley Mae is preceded in death by parents Walter Jones, and Catherine (Cannady) Huckleberry, children Lamarr Huckleberry, Rolisha Huckleberry, brothers Kenneth Huckleberry Sr., James Huckleberry, sister Libby Huckleberry, and stepfather Finney Huckleberry.

She leaves to cherish her memory with husband Robert Thompson of Columbus, OH., children Shedderrick (Georgette) Thompson, Michael (Madeline) Thompson, Robert (Edward Stiger) Thompson, all of Columbus, OH., brothers Clifton (Dawn) Huckleberry of Bluefield, WV., John Huckleberry of Columbus, OH., David Smith of Keystone, WV., sisters Diana Ziglar of Kimball, WV., Dreama C. Merriweather of Graham, NC., Leila M. (John) Joyce of Suffolk, Virginia, Sheila R. (Willie) Giles of Waxhaw, NC., 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchilren, special extended daughter Leevexter Norman, special friends “bug” Sullivant, Dorothy Watkins, Alice Wynn, and Milton Green, Caregiver granddaughter Shee-on Thompson, also a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation 9:00am and Funeral 10:00am Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Shiloh Baptist Church, 720 Mt Vernon Ave.

Interment at Glen Rest Memorial Gardens.
