Stella Boyd

BoydStella

Stella Uvette Boyd, affectionately known as Monk, 59, left us in the early morning of Thursday September 9, 2021. Stella was born May 25, 1962 in Columbus, Ohio to Norma and Cecil Boyd. The fifth child born of a family six, Stella had no problem finding ways to stand out and set herself apart from her siblings.

Stella’s zest for life, big heart and generous spirit will be remembered with love. To know her was to love her crazy, loud, uncensored, bold, and funny personality. Whether you knew her a lifetime or for a short period of time, she had a way of making you feel welcomed and loved.

The simplest pleasures in life brought Stella great joy. She enjoyed watching movies, gardening, writing, connecting with family and friends and posting on Facebook affectionately known as “her magazine”. Nothing made her happier than a clean house and a glass of Chardonnay.

Stella loved her family unconditionally. She was a doting mother, devoted grandma and GiGi, a loving sister and to her nieces and nephews the world’s greatest Monk Auntie.

Stella is proceeded in death by her parents, Norma and Cecil Boyd; brother, Vincent Boyd; beloved pet, Cutie Pie; uncles, Eugene, Warren, Karl, Ernest, Michael Hairston; aunts, Hazel Dennis, Helen Crump, Shirley Tynes, Martha Ruth Henderson, Peggy Kelly, Carolyn Jackson, and Theresa Stewart.

Stella leaves to cherish her memory, daughter, Brooke Boyd; grandchildren, Hailee and Zachary (CeCe) Boyd; great-grandchildren, Zyair and Zoey; bonus grandchildren, Samuel and Solomon; sisters, Cheri and Tresa Boyd; brothers, Michael (Julie) and David (Lisa) Boyd; nieces, Amber, Valencia (Kirk), Whitney (Karle), Cecelia, Erin (Orlando), and Delaney; nephews David (Ashley) and Kendall Boyd; special great-niece, Caylan; great-nieces, Kianna, Amirreya, Daijah, Everly and Ila; great-nephews, Kevin, Kenny, Kavon, Adrian, Orlando Jr, Adian, Dominic, Grayson, Karle Jr, Karson, Karter, and Karlen; special cousin, Shelia Craft; best friend, Karen McLean; bonus family Miguel, Tatiana and Simon; aunt, Patricia Hairston; uncles Herbert Henderson and Walter Stewart; and a host of cousins and friends.

Stella’s life was a blessing, memories of her we will treasure. She was loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure.

Visitation 10:00am and Funeral 11:00am Friday, September 17, 2021 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE NORTH, 2500 Cleveland Ave.
