Mrs. Stella Toby Fahnbulleh-Davis, 66, affectionately known as “Aunty Toby” was born on January 5 th , 1956, in Diah, Grand Cape Mount County, Liberia, to the union of the late Alhaji Semilla B. Fahnbulleh and Marjon Marbee Fahnbulleh.

Stella’s formative years were spent in Grand Cape Mount County with her parents and siblings. Stella is one of nine (9) children from the union of her parents, of which all but one pre-deceased her.

At the age of eight (8), Stella moved to Monrovia the capital city of Liberia to live with her older sister, the late Mrs. Ruth Sando Perry, to continue her education. She attended the Monrovia Demonstration Elementary School and later, the Botswain High School where she graduated in 1975. Stella later attended the BWI Secretarial School to prepare herself for the workforce.

Stella was baptized in the Trinity Cathedral Episcopal Church in the city of Monrovia. Later, relocating to the city of Paynesville, she became one of the founding members of the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, Paynesville. Stella met Mr. Seidu Davis in the late sixties, and they dated until they married on December 12, 1982.

The union of Stella and Seidu was blessed with seven daughters: Ruth Sando Davis, Harriet Hawa Davis, Cynthia Nono Davis, Mama Tutu Davis (deceased), Serdea Dede Davis, Veronica Sadatu Davis and Gladys Massa “GMass” Davis. Stella adopted her brother’s son, Abraham Randolph Davis (Abe), and three other children including Mrs. Ophelia Gbunblee, George Eddie Davis, and Jatu Davis, while supporting many others.

Before the Liberian Civil War, Stella worked at the Capital Building as a Special Assistant to her sister, then Senator Ruth Sando Perry. After the war, Stella migrated to the United States in 1997 and settled in Columbus, Ohio, leaving behind her husband and children. Her husband and four of their children, Ophelia, Hawa, Sadatu, and GMass, joined her years later while the others, Sando, Nono, Dede, George and Jatu, stayed in Liberia. Randolph moved to Ghana where he currently resides with his family. While living in Columbus, Ohio Stella became a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and worked for many years in the Health Care Industry. In 2014 Stella had a massive stroke and never fully illness at the Ohio State University (OSU) East Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.

Stella is survived by her husband, Seidu Davis, her older sister, Victoria Mamilane Nimely, her ten children (biological and adopted), sixteen grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
As many of us that are here today to celebrate her life and attest to, Stella was a vibrant, outgoing, friendly and accommodating person. Her doors and kitchen were always open to everyone. We will certainly miss her bright personality and pray to continue her legacy.

Aunty Tobby, your memory will forever be with me. Your love was shown by your affection. The Lord has his own way of doing thing. Go and rest in peace. To us the children and family, let’s take heart, keep the courage and unity like our falling parents.

Aunty Toby, as she was fondly called by the entire family, was indeed very accommodating and fun to be around.
I particularly remember her for her jovial behavior and her nice dishes.
We will dearly miss you.
My condolences to uncle Seidu and my cousins.
