  7. To the Family, My deepest sympathy to each of you. I am truly sad of Bro Steve passing. “Brother” which affectionately Detra called him and then I started to call him as well. “Brother” had such a kind, thoughtful and caring spirit. I will miss our talks during the day and his presence at our Usher Board gatherings and playing Spades at Curtis house. Most of all, I will miss my Chief Usher during Sunday Worship Services, usher board meeting when he address the President as Juana(Duchess) and utter his favorite saying “O F F”. My prayers and condolences to the family during this difficult time. I have been a member of Mt. Hermon for the past 29 years and a usher. Steve is the first usher I met and he was such a nice person. We had so much fun, food, and fellowship these past 29 years. Five years ago when he was in the accident with his two aunts was a very traumatic experience for him but he never complained or was mad at God for losing them. What a gentle giant that never was mean or disrespectful to anybody. I talked to him every day after the accident until about 2 months ago when his illness overtook him. I know that he was in pain but he said he knew they had done all they could do and he would just deal with the pain. Thank and praise God that he is pain free. He always gave me beautiful Christmas cards and every year he would give me a birthday card with money inside (according to your age). I will miss his true friendship and leadership as Chief Usher. He taught me how to be a good usher nd to be nice to everyone regardless of how they treated you. He said “You can’t control grown folks”. He was very funny and would say when someone was mental ” he or she is OFF”. Rest on my friend and i will see you on the other side where you will be pain free.

  13. Lots of memories will forever stay with me. You were most definitely a one of a kind. I know that you already have your shoes off walking around up there.

  14. Beautiful service and Steve was a beautiful person. Cindy, Sue and Stan sending my condolences with love.

  15. My prayers to Steve’s family, he will be missed by his Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield family.

We loved seeing Steve at the Anthem birthday gatherings, Rest In Peace my friend. Tiera Ray
