Susie Ann Wilson was born to Charles Mitchell Wilson and Mae Fannie (Tucker) Wilson on Wednesday, July 2, 1958, in Columbus, Ohio. Susie graduated from South High School in 1977 and always represented her Bulldogs. She was a loyal friend and had a compassionate, empathetic nature as evidenced in her nurturing love for people.

Throughout her lifetime, Susie worked various jobs, including Honey Baked Ham and Bank One. Her most precious and coveted job was being a dedicated and devoted mother. The one thing that you knew was that Susie loved her children. She took pride in taking her children to all their school functions, sporting events, and helping them as they became parents themselves. Susie was also the community mother, opening her home to multiple children over the years, who she claimed as her own.

Susie was a faithful woman who loved the Lord so much that she was baptized twice, once as a young child, and again, soon after she became a member of Rhema Christian Center. Not only was Susie an active member in the church, but she was also a servant leader in her community. She participated in service projects transcending beyond the city. Susie volunteered at local schools, such as Fifth Avenue Elementary School for International Studies. She assisted the elderly with grocery shopping, household duties, and provided a comforting and listening ear.

Susie was an ultra-competitor, and you would recognize that if you saw her in action. You would feel her wrath and hear her hilarious commentary as she would try to sike you out. Don’t start any music because Susie would attempt to cut a rug anywhere and everywhere, with her no rhythm dancing-self. She was the life of the party! If she was there, you wouldn’t have to ask, because you would see and hear her having the time of her life. Now, if she was at one of her kids’ sporting events, beware and guard your ears, because Susie was the biggest cheerleading parent from the stands! Needless to say, her love and warm energy would inevitably be felt all through the room.

Blessed with sixty-three years of life, our beloved Susie Wilson entered eternal rest on Saturday, August 21, 2021. Susie was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mae Wilson and her sister, Mary Morrison.

Celebrating her life and legacy are her loving family: daughters, Maleka (Christopher) James and Myshana Wilson; son, Michael Spotts II; stepdaughter, Mandisa (Eddie) Johnson; sister, JoAnn Williams; and brother, David (Jan) Tucker. She also leaves to cherish her memory the loves of her life, her grandchildren, KeMaria Wilson, Kylah Wilson, Amyr Wilson, Kerry Wilson Jr., Robert McCoy Jr., Myles Johnson, Madison Johnson, Milan Johnson, Clevelynn James, and Deyton James; a great-grandchild, Isabella Brannon; as well as a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, church family, neighborhood (walking) family, school and library family, and loving friends; including special friends, Jacqueline Mitchell, Teresa Vinson, and Lynn Wooden; former husbands, Michael Spotts and Stanley Embry Jr.; and her favorite four-legged pals, Meme and Dallas. Her smile, her humor, and her love for everyone will be deeply missed by all.

To Susie’s family, May God’s angels surround you.

Susie’s neighbors in Yorkshire loved her for her walks around to check on everyone and for her fun talks from the front porch. And she even took some to get groceries. She will be missed.

Love,
Janet Howie

Condolence from Marie Vera on August 31st, 2021 2:33 pm

I did not know Susie, but I know Maleka, who is compassionate, passionate, wise, and encouraging. Maleka did not come by these qualities by accident, and I believe these were values instilled in by Susie. May you each find comfort in each others’ presence, feed courage into one another and find love in Susie’s memory.

With Lovingkindness,

Marie Vera

Condolence from Gail Prioleau on September 5th, 2021 10:19 am

Susie was more than a friend, she was family. We bonded over our love for GOD, our children, grandchildren, and our fur babies. We became fast friends when we discovered we drove the same car and color. We wore the same shoes, clarks! and graduated from the same High School, same year! Susie was sweet and simple, she was unapologetic, either you got her take on life, or you didn’t. She was sincere and sympathetic and sunny. She was an instrument of GOD, never ending a conversation without telling you how good he is to her and her family. Lastly, Susie was empathic, able to encourage you to get over your own difficult times. I will miss this fantastic, funny and formidable woman and devoted mother. Her presence will be missed, her spirit lives on! Love to Mike, Marshanna and Maliki, and the rest of Susie’s family!
