Teatra Powers

PowersTeatra

Teatra Danielle Powers born December 16, 1987 at University Hospital. She was the 5th of 6 children and the only daughter born to her parents.

Teatra received her early education at Linden Elementary and later graduated from Brookhaven High School in Columbus, Ohio. Proudly she attended Heritage College of Massage Therapy where she received her Certification as a Massage Therapist. Over the years Teatra held of number of jobs; she currently was employed as a Paralegal with the Law Firm of Levy and Associates.

Teatra’s world consisted of spending time with her family and friends especially her children and parents. She affectionately referred to her daddy as “Daddy’s Girl” and her Mother as “Mommy World”. She was a loving mother who took pride in spoiling her children with trips to Disney and other places. As a mother she wanted her children to absorb all the skills needed to succeed. She was proud to instill the art of Hair Braiding to her daughter as she enjoyed braiding hair herself. As the family’s Diva
Fashionista she was always seen sporting the latest fashions in shoes and clothing. Her aspiration was to open her own T-Shirt Business and become a successful entrepreneur.

Teatra received the nickname “Moody” at an early age and anyone close to her needed no explanation on how she obtained that nickname, especially her brothers who knew that even as the only girl she only had to flash that “Moody Attitude” and they knew to keep it moving.

Teatra is preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Phrania Barnes; maternal grandmother, Evelyn Powers; uncles, Elisha Barnes (Brenda), Richard Barnes (Esther), and Danny Powers.

She leaves to mourn her world, children Kennedy Anderson (11) and Kyrie Tucker (4); loving parents, Wesley Barnes and Donna Powers; brothers, Lanel Barnes, Wesley Powers, Miquel (Kamilah) Powers, Rafael Powers, and Julius Powers; aunts, Carole Edwards, Annette Levy, Maria Barnes, and Denise Powers; uncles, James Barnes, Raymond Barnes, Dean Powers, Darryl (Linda) Powers, Denardo Powers and Michael Barnes; 13 nieces and nephews and a host of other cousins, family and friends.

Private Services entrusted to MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE NORTH, 2500 Cleveland Ave.
